I doubt that you and books are related in any way.

Big, fat "You are 100% Correct!" from me Time.
Anyway, back ontopic:
I had just made some examples of a lightmap, but then the power went off ( that is what you get for living in South Africa... ). I am quickly taking some snapshots....

Here they are:

> Without Lightmap:
http://bayimg.com/jaaIEAADd

> With Lightmap
http://bayimg.com/JaaiFAadD

You can see the difference hey? The lightmapped one is meant as either a nighttime zone or for a dark basement. I personally like it as a basement. It looks cool doesn't it?

EDIT: Unfortunatly Bayimg went and compressed it and now it doesn't look as good as it used to.. But trust me it really rocks.

EDIT2: Here, a link to the original file, on my own little subby: http://dannydeth.22web.net/lightmap/

Pretty cool, huh? That is the original

If DC implemented stuff like sprite entity isn't drawn if it's not on the screen.
Then it's better to split up that image into some parts, so there won't be any problems to draw it.

this actually IS implemented. graphics are only drawn if they are not on the screen.

@Ultr4killer: one more violation and you'll be banned forever. it's enough.

Wait. You think "Crysis" is the best graphical game in the world, and you want to tell me something about how "resolution" and "textures".

1. Click this link: http://www.vgmaps.com/Atlas/GBA/Pokemon-FL-Kanto.png

2. Watch the "resolution" of the image

3. Now compare with your desktop resolution

4. You noticed anything!?

Spoiler >

no off-topic discussions. the user got a flame violation as well. it's your own fault if you can't control yourself. you should know that flame is forbidden under all circumstances! oh dear... we are not in a fucking kindergarten

no more posts or comments on that. just accept it or leave.

Oh my god! People! I made just a post of a concept what I am working on and you started to flame!
Btw: First time I wanted to make just simple colors and using trigger start and etc., but its too complicated and ugly.
And it would not be nice with a little image what I resize. Why? Because I draw the stars too

Realistic sunlight will be so cool for some maps but bad for maps like minigame . So I don't think it's good idea cause it'll be game only for strong computers .

Yes, but the time is changing and one day, everyone will have a new computer because the programs will need a stronger machine. Isn't?

Did you guys even look at the images i posted? It shows clearly it is possible to add stars, make things darker, etc. The only problem is that you can only put the map at the corner of the circle. If you like I willl make one that makes it hazy, harder to see, brighter, you know, to emulate the heat of the day. I'll edit this post the second I'm done with the lightmap.

EDIT: Added Nightmap that allows both day and night in one picture. See it ( the parts below 'basement mapping' are all from the same lightmap ): http://dannydeth.22web.net/lightmap/index.html

EDIT2: I did it quickly, so don;t say it looks bad, for a 20 second job it aint that bad.

Who's saying you an afford to get those games? Look, dude. People will always play CS2D, it is too good not to. Why do you think people still play the original CS instad of CS:S? Because it is classic, everybody has played it, it gets you hooked. Same with CS2D.

Isn't this exactly what Blazzingxxx is going after with his Lights & Development? (I believe his name is DarkMyth or something right now) It's about placing a lightmap layer over the map.

One way to think about this is the same as the tilesets. You generate a large image with all kinds of stars/suns/moons/ whatever. And you use portions of this map repeatedly to make the lightlayer for a map. It's pretty easy to implement I think.

+1

I'm also playing SuperMario64 on my N64 atm. And the graphics are 8-vectored. That's not the best graphics engine.

btw. The images on your website are broken, try somehow else.
