I know there are A TON load of guides and post about this, but I have spent about 3 hours reading through this whole forum and still have yet to find the solution to my problem, so I opened this thread so maybe someone can help me
so I setup a vps server:
Cent OS Server 5.5 32-Bit Base
and the server starts just fine in ssh client the dedicated server is chmod 777, the server ip shows up on http://www.cs2d.com/servers.php but doesnt not show up in-game it can only be joined by ip and if you take the filter (reachable/same version) off you can see the ip there in all red with no server name no details at all, i have installed libstdc++.so.5 also and still nothing anybody have anything else I can try?

If you add it to your favourites, do you see the details in your favourite list? If you join the server, do you have 0 ping?

In that case, reboot your VPS

when I join the server by ip, it pops up in the server list it shows up in my serverlist but then if I reopen cs2d to play again it is gone, and when I join by ip I have ping and so does everbody else that joins by ip, i will leave the server up if you want to join it, and see what i mean the ip is
96.8.115.195:36930
and sv_lan is 0

Check if your server provider enabled some sort of firewall. This may be the problem, but if it is an unmanaged server... then I really see nothing wrong. Perhaps the USGN is just getting overloaded or something.

yea its unmanaged vps, I have run out of options lol
*Problem solved*
The problem was a firewall, even tho the VPS is unmanaged CentOS comes preinstalled with a firewall, so i googled how to stop or open firewall, did so and baam servers are up and running! Thank you for all your help! much appreciated! I hope this thread will help others in the future!
