You don't need a Lawyer unless you want to sue the teacher

Just go to the embassy of Fiji to reattain your BC, well, assuming there is one in your country, if there isn't, go back there, You Sloth

But still, i ask : Why Migrate to another country? just stay where you were born, less Legal Problems for both you and the Legal System

Lawyer is not to necessarily sue, but merely to help cover their asses.

Think about it. What happens when this "lost" certificate finds itself a new owner? Don`t forget that it does not come with all that much of information to help identify the grown-up person it belongs to. So someone ELSE might obtain ID based on that birth certificate, then use that ID for less then legal stuff.

Which, in the end, leads to certain poster holding the bag for embezzlement, con or theft. Or worse. That lost certificate needs to be declared invalid post-haste, and that`s what lawyer is for - they know exactly what you need to do and in what order to come out of it relatively unscathed.

I do believe a cost of one-time lawyer consultation is quite less exorbitant as the cost of having a crime pinned on you later, ne?

Crimes Pinned on you due to Lost BC? No, If you obtain one from the Embassy, Old one's already Forfeit, and besides, i have a Brother working in the legal System : He has never seen a single Birth Certificate being used to accuse someone else, in his long, 10-year career

without your birth certificate you cannot get your ID card

I got my ID card (only for the EU) and later my passport without ever having to show my birth certificate. I guess it was only needed once, to register me right after I was born. I was then linked to my parents' passports, both physically (my info and picture being in there) and virtually, in the system of the local authority. Then to get my own ID card, all that was needed was my mother showing her passport, my fingerprints and my signature.

I'd start out by stalking your teacher to search it, just because that'd be the easiest option for you. And you might want to report identity theft.

I agree with this.
I mean you can't just lose something like that. Your teacher is either lying, or just ridiculously stupid.

Have you actually told your mother that your teacher lost it?

It's No Joke, Son, and neither is Life, a Fake/Stolen Birth Certificate could be used to Strain your Records, Which could deny you Drivers ID cards, High-end Jobs, and even ID's and Credit cards

You'll know when you get a bad dose of ID Theft, but, kid, Don't Suffer the same thing i had more than 12 years ago, Put that BC away, It was only through luck i convinced the Court that somebody stole my identity

I can right now

Do something REALLY bad(Like Murder somebody), Print your BC and leave it on the floor on the scene of the crime

Also, i could Use you BC to get a ID card, and use that to register CC's, then purchase like hell, At the end of the month, you'll have to pay

In short, Get that thing off before it happens, I was a little too cocky with my BC 12 years ago, and i am determined nobody repeats what happened to me, on that night when i lost the card

which means you are fucked for the rest of your life.

Or you can go to a registry office and get another copy. I don't know how much this will cost in the OP's country though.

He has to go to Fiji then, not exactly the easiest task, no?

Oh my god, did the OP give the ORIGINAL certificate, NOT a photocopy?
