This will give the player a 1 second delay instead of 1.5...to hit the button a second time for the map marker menu. Don't forget the click File-Save.

One thing you will find different besides the "look" of fish...is the loot when you kill a fish with some weapon besides catching them with your pole or rod. You no longer get fillet if you kill a fish, instead you will loot the fish and get the "whole fish" that you will need to fillet with your knife yourself.

The other thing I changed is the amount of fillet when you use your knife on the whole fish. As follows according to size:

small sunfish =1 small fillet
piranha = 1 small fillet + 2 teeth
purple angel = 2 small fillet
green bass = 1 large fillet + 1 small fillet
rainbow = 2 large fillet + 1 small fillet


Nothing is different as far as gameplay, you just do the same as you have been, and you should see it makes more sense. imo.


This is good update.
I restarted a new game with a boost in a wpn to quickly fly thru the game. I cant help but notice a few things.

Much less fish which is better now.
Still too much pirahnas. Almost certainly with sharks when i see a whale. Meaning: Take out pirahnas, then go for the shark then can u reach the big fish (whale).

You may want to know cutting a big fillet into 2 smaller fillet.
The weight does not justify.
The fish meat becomes grossly lessened. (in terms of weight, and the benefits in terms of hunger, thirsts, etc).

The get fish and then fillet is great idea.
But u dun wan to lug the shark or whale to shore rite? Fillet it on the spot. (And ps, there should really be alot more meat in those whale, and dun they have lungs? Wink)

You may wan to balance it.

Do any of you fine folks know how the trough works in particular. Do I plant parallel to the troughs and are the plants automatically watered from full troughs? How do you fill them?

I'm asking because I've tried filling them with bottles and the graphic stays the same as if they were empty. Also when I planted plants next to the troughs, they seem to still need watering manually.

Good reminder, I have to adjust the weight of the fillet vs fish, I forgot to do that. LOL @ dragging sharks n whales, no those two will still have fillet loot upon killing them...you wont carry sharks or whales in your rucksack...just the 4 fish, turtle, and crab.

plants need water only when they are black in color or they die at midnight.

They are automatically watered ever time it rains, or if your trough is full of water from the rain.

When a trough is empty, you can approach the SPOUT and rightclick with a bottle of water inhand to "Water the Trough". The trough will spread your 1 bottle of water over 2-3 rows of crops the entire length of the trough.

with out a trough, rightclicking will "Water the Ground", which only waters the few crops at your feet.

so the purpose of the trough is 2 fold. Stretches your 1 bottle into many watered crops and automatically waters many crops after the trough is filled by rain. (waters crops for several days until the trough is empty).

p.s. I know players would expect to see water in the trough if you add a bottle, but you do not...because the water is dispersed across the ground watering the crops. The only time you will see water in the trough is if it rains for a length of time.

p.p.s. The trough use is actually more then 2 fold...because you can simply use them to catch rainwater to fill bottles, like a bucket, or drink from it if needed, or make bendable branches at it too. You can use them as barriers against units, or as stationary structures for you own purposes. I have used them to "funnel" units into my fence gates too. But yes, it's main purpose is for watering crops.

Other stuff:

1. Sheep are reproducing way too fast.
2. I would give it a try at making fish nets the ultimate goal of fishing. As it is, I stop after I reach 150 skill level, and build 10 nets. Survivalist game over.
3. The arbalest + iron bolts are a game killer too. Once you get them, it gets boring.
4. Maybe there should be fruit on the trees/bushes from day one. But the rate of production should be dramatically reduced.

Question:

Is there an way of tweaking the random island map generator?

Now that the islands are much bigger, I would like to see an option for archipelago map.

Moreover, is there an way of combining all map types qualities and mashing them together? At the very least, any way of combining the mountain one with the normal one?

I increased the iron,gold,crystal,water rock from the start. You stand correct...when I made the maps larger I did not increase the number of these to spawn at start. So, yeah, you have 1 crystal rock on hard-mode large map. I increased them all for next update.

Only the Steel shovel can find crystal...it is listed in the shovel spade mode, along with gold and coal deposit.

"Prospecting for coal, crystal, or gold"

I reduced the chance of sheep breeding from 1/30 to 1/50.

I cannot make the map generator alter the maps without someone else doing it and re-compiling the .exe. I find a decent variance using large map HILLS...I get lakes, ponds, and inland reaching bays/streams and multi-small islands off the coasts. But no, I cannot re-compile the .exe currently...I do not have the correct Bltz3D version and it cost over $100 dollars.

I will try hill mode. To be honest I always play normal, but decided that normal terrain is not the way to go. I tried mountain and I liked it A LOT at first, but the lack of variety in terrain soon got to me and I stop after a couple of days.

1)Goto the random_03_endless_h.inf file (because you play hard mode) and open it.

2) Right near the top you will see on:start{ and a list of things that spawn on all maps, IF THERE IS 0 COUNTED 1 IS CREATED. (e.g. if (count("object",4886)==0){ randomcreate "object",4886,100,1000; } // Grain.) This is the "safety net" list, if 0 is counted 1 is created. So we always have 1 of each minimum. (Notice an OBJECT is written different then a ITEM.)

3)Just below this list starts the different spawn list depending on the SIZE OF THE MAP. Here we are putting a "specific number" to control how many spawn. You will see: $size=mapsize(); small=4096/medium=8192/big=16384.

4)so if you play large map scroll the list to: }elseif ($size==16384) { You can change the COUNT number to spawn as many as you want of each thing.

e.g. loop ("count",1){randomcreate "object",72,1,1000; } // Crystal Rock

if you want more then 1 crystal rock change the 1 to a larger number you want

At the bottom of the page you will see another section that spawns stuff in a ratio to each other. ratio=1 would put very few of that thing and MORE of the other things... and ratio=10 would put more of that thing and LESS of the other things. This section spawns the ratio amount across the island...just all the "stuff" that we want to control the "general amounts" of...by way of ratio.

Example:
### Stones and Clay
range=-5,1000
ratio=1
objects=60,61,62,63,64,65,66,67,68,69

the water rock is object ID 63, so out of EVERYTHING spawned a ratio of 1 is rocks and clay are spawned. Notice the ID for ore rocks (70,71,72) is NOT present because we only want ONE from the above script at the top to take care of them...to spawn an actual number we decide, and if there is 0 remember the safety net, 1 WILL spawn somewhere.

range= from water, to inland
or
range= from water, to out into the water

0 is where the water meets the land
positive numbers are inland
negative numbers are out into the water

p.s. the bottom section will require you to look up ID of things in some of the other files like units.inf to get unit ID, or stone.inf to get the ID of the ore rocks, or bushes.inf to get the ID of some crops, etc.

The "key" items are generally spawned from the top section of the script where we control the numbers, then the bottom is a "ratio" to generally spawn other stuff like fish...trees...palms...bushes...weeds...birds etc. Where we do not need a specific count.

1. When making 10 stone arrows, it only consumes 2 stones. Did not try for 50.

2. When striking down a tent, all of them are stricken down and put in a runsack.

ok...I will have to make tents like a Distiller and Grill...you will hit the tent to strike it. You get the tent kit in your rucksack. I will do away with the menu, so only the tent you hit will be stricken.

It is actually same problem from massive-mod when I started this mod...if you took down a grill, distiller or cooking pot all them would be taken down...guess i missed the tent doing the same thing.

Ill check the arrows/pebbles...might be a typo.

Thanks for this. Using this information I was able to create a hybrid mode using the raptor slot. I basically took the resource quantities of normal mode and replaced those of the hard mode but left the enemy spawn rates and other difficulty settings the same. It took a bit of working but it was fun to mod the existing language. I can't imagine starting from scratch.

Just a reminder that most info upcoming can be found on page 1 in the "to-do" list. I have recently added a woman native I got from other mods. I am not sure yet what role she will play, but she will be special in some way...maybe perform tasks like clean fish, or cook or something...she will be hostile and inflict harm unless you tame her. (maybe throwing her jewelry or something will tame her) Still thinking about what all she will be on the island, just unclear at this time.

additionally...what ever her role ends up being, there will be a counter native of the male that will do the same. (probably the current regular native)This way, if your a guy player you can tame the female, or if your a female player you can tame a male. (or what ever your preference) They will be similar in most ways but different in gender roles.

And an inability to play it anymore. Which makes me sad, but I have to give you kudos for doing so much for it. And with still more planned.

I took a break before you upped the scale of the islands themselves, so it's difficult for me to tell what's causing my lag and what started it. But the game freezes briefly whenever the sky changes, and it tics again for a reason I'm not sure of. And if I look around too fast, it briefly freezes so my cursor ends up off the screen. And this is even with 'water' and 'sky' set to minimal in the graphics option, with low grass and medium effects.

Makes me wish I had saved an older copy of the game, but oh well.

You're still doing an awesome job. Keep up the good work.

I would not reduce it. I would increase hostiles in larger maps.
