@user Trotskygrad: You're wrong.
Free online gaming, yea? It's right, playing xbox online costs some money, but that's just like 20-30 ct a day... I think everyone has that. Also, Xbox has less money due to the reason it must be bought and it's useless buying months of free online gaming if you get banned inside of some days.

Also, I do not get what you mean about "Graphic differences", I've never seen any graphic different on Xbox or PS3 which was caused to the console.. You can change graphic settings of your console, you know? (well, at least at the xbox.)

Yet another one of these classic PS3 vs XBOX 360 discussions?

Both of the consoles are good, imo. I wouldn't say one is better than the other, as both have their pros as well as cons.

As other people already said, a good PC trumps both of them easily.

However, if you still want a console, then just pick one depending on your likes (eg. ps3 for free online, or xbox - cheaper price)

ps: I prefer a ps3

PS3 has free online gaming... less hackers

Free membership = more hackers
Isn't that obvious?

better exclusives (Heavy Rain, MGS, etc)

Bullshit. Different people like different things, you can't say that one console has better exclusives than the other.

Also, MGS is for Xbox as well, Heavy Rain is a video-press-x-now-video type of game.

Neither, consoles are shit.

Save up for a real man's gaming PC.

This.

Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on a console you can use one device for everything: Your PC.

The only thing on a console that might be better for some games is a joystick, but you can get one for your PC as well.

But I prefer playing FPS games (which seem to be among the most popular genre) on a PC with a keyboard and mouse.

yet it has one of the best plots in any game I've played. You probably think Dear Esther is a shit game as well, because there's only movement controls. Learn to appreciate art.

MGS for xbox only came with the HD collection, they were released on PC and PS long before Xbox. I doubt the next MGS will be released on xbox simultaneously.

As for the hacking point, PS3 was a much more closed system until it was cracked.

I myself own neither consoles so I can't attest to the presence of hackers online in any regularity.

but yes, the best solution is a PC with a gamepad, joystick, and emulator.

I can name many other games with a great plot. Also, if you can't control the "game" and buy it just for the plot, you can buy a movie.

Also, don't tell others to learn to appreciate art if you don't like what they say. Don't hide.

are you fucking kidding me?

There's something called being objectively good. Heavy Rain is a game that could be considered objectively good. Sure you may not like the way it plays or it's plot, but deriding it as being a series of QTEs is just silly. You can even call it a bad game, sure. But you have to recognize that it does have merits in it's way of storytelling and it's plot.

if you can't control the player, then it's not a game. Plenty of good games grant the player only limited control over the character (look at point and clicks), some, like dear esther grant the player even less control (simply over movement and pacing). It doesn't mean that they're any less of a game.

@user Trotskygrad: Point and click games actually have you controlling your character. Unlike press-button-now games.

You actually control the character in heavy rain and press-button-now is only used in the action scenes. Thus it is a game according to you.

qft

and no game is a press button now game, except for guitar hero and other rhythm games

though those are more like press multiple buttons now

@user Navy Seal: The actual gaming part of that game is still small.

not really.

proportionally I wouldn't say QTEs make up more than 10% of the game.

compared to cutscenes which make up more than 30% of MGS4, yet people recognize that those are almost essential to the development of story and character.

And character development is an area in which a lot of games fall on their face.

@user Trotskygrad: Fallout 1 and 2 had minimal cutscenes. Yet, they have one of the best storylines ever to be found in a game.

since when did I say cutscenes were critical for storytelling? HL series is often regarded as the best in that aspect and one of its key feature is a lack of cutscenes.

and FO 1/2 are RPGs so they have a lot easier time executing character development and plot telling than other games, such as RTS (especially RTS) and FPS.

@user Trotskygrad: Implying that RTS games have an actual plot, and not just some 3-hour story to get the formalities right.

Dawn of War I/II

Achtung Panzer: Operation Star

Men of War gets an honorable mention for it's voice acting...

wouldn't really count it though
