As user DannyDeth says your internet plan no matter how great it is. If the server you are reaching out to aren't having a great internet plan nor a great network card you'll experience that the connection to this specific server is infact slow. To be honest, not many people has fiber optics and this is probably the reason why people complain about lagg most of the times.

I can understand how frustrating that can be and I used to have it like that since I changed my ISP and I'm paying for 100 up-stream & 100 down-stream in Mbit/s for a rather fair price plan and I have no problem with bad connectivity to servers which have similar speeds or higher however servers with less or critically lower speeds they have much more high latency. As post title says, that's what's required in most cases when gaming.

@user trickstr: DC has a lot to do for university right now. He has to finish his thesis.
Also he has said that his top priority right now is stranded 3. So there probably won't be a big update in the near future.

I assume that the African internet infrastructure is very limited. There are surely more users now than 2 years ago and maybe the internet providers can't give everyone full speed anymore because of that. This would explain why it got worse. The number of users grew but they didn't manage to keep up with the infrastructure so speed is limited and connections are bad.

There is probably no applicable solution to your problem if this is the truth - unless you move to another country.

You assume correctly!

Actually, ADSL only became a viable option for most people around... 5 or 6 years ago. Even still, we paid around 35-50 Euro for 384kbps lines.

2 years ago my ping was better, but now its bad

To CS2D servers? When I played CS2D more, I had a minimum ping of 250ms. That is about right, considering that 2 of the 3 undersea cables that went to Europe were connected to northern Africa and did not come straight down to the south. If you are suffering from pings much higher ( 500ms ) you should contact your ISP. Unless you are with Telkom, then you should change ISPs.
