When you join for the first time, you will only own 1 spell.
To unlock more you will have to search for randomly spawned Scrolls, scrolls can unlock any random spell.
If you arent so lucky finding scrolls, you may buy them with gold coins, also randomly spawned across the map.
To see highscores just copy server's ip (83.251.222.54:36963) and past it on the link bar in your browser.
