Please, do not mark this as spam due to the posters above me.As a older CS2D member, I have accumulated knowledge about the clans that participate in CS2D. I know about some of their faults and most of their wins.
Tip #1: Don't Create a Forum, Yet.As a starting clan, you don't need a forum when your starting out. After you have acquired a few members and THEY request a forum, get one. Don't create a forum and expect all your members to flood it.
Tip #2: Pacifists beware!If you do not like confrontation between your clan members, do not become a clan leader. I have found that no matter where you go, you will always find a person on the internet that hates another person. But, you can use this to your advantage. Start heated debates on your clan's forum. Most members of your clan will love to participate in these. Just, don't let it get too heated.
Tip #3: Use What Your Members Are Used To.There might be some fancy online community software that's all the rage. That's cool but don't use it if your members aren't used to it. Most people are comfortable with forums. But, if you go out on a limb and use some weird, crazy online platform, they most likely won't use it.
Tip #4: You Create the Content.Don't expect that when you create your forum, your members will flood it with new topics and threads. It won't happen at first. You need to create the content for your forum. If your forum gets big enough, then your members will start using it.

because i keep buying cookies. I used to have a site + forum there, but I got more and more downtimes - at a certain point, I had downtimes at least once a week for a serious period of time (in the range of multiple hours).
And doesn't webs put ads above your pages?

Yes, www.Webs.com does put ADs on your forum. ByteHost and x10Hosting do, but their support systems suck and they are, admittedly, hard to setup.
I originally used Lefora.com for my Community forum. It allows a lot of customization but you can't have sub-forums aka child forums.
