There should be a thread for putting screenshots of all beautiful and misterious places we visit!

What lies in the greatest depths of the sea? What lies in the furthest reaches of one`s memory?

Update:

Skills:
• Flying - increase when you fly... or get hurt trying!
• Diving - increase when you dive to your limits - witch increase when you level up (so you have to dive deeper and deeper and won't be able to increase your ability beyond certain level on some maps)

Objects:
• Kite
• Wings, Battlewings (Now you can rain death from above!)
• Glider
• Breathing Pipe
• Air Net (a structure that holds air underwater... anyone can think of a better name?)
• Underwater Barrel (storage)
• Coral reef, underwater cave, sea anemones (shown on screenshots)


Game mechanics:
• You can (and will) get hurt by impact.
• Animal behaviour - lions get hungry and hunt monkeys. Very simple though, I had no idea how this could impact gameplay, and making a whole balanced ecology is way to diffcult.
• Some slopes are unclimbable. Obviously, you have to fly over them
• Other minor changes

I'm planning to add more stuff, but it won't be anything revolutionary. Just few more items, materials, and maybe one or two skills. I think I should add animals/adjust animals stats as well - it's no fun when you can outswim a shark!

All of above doesn't perform well on the random maps. You need steep slopes, huge underwater canions and such.

Update:

• Many new materials added, some are known from other mods (like sulphur or black powder) some are new (e.g. wax and honey)
• Few more items (e.g. smoke bomb... you have to scare those pesky bees away if you want honey!)
• Underwater cave model redone
• Flight script tested and corrected

Now I have to add proper combinations and skills. Shouldn't take long. When I finish with modding part, I'm going to make a map.

Looks nice :D. I like the idea for the mod :D, but the models looks very simple.

Yeah, I made it. I know models aren't perfect. All this coral reef creatures are soft, fragile, translucent, wobbly and difficult to model. The other half of problem are textures.

Unfortunetally, Stranded isn't moddable enough when comes to underwater enviroment, to make a good mod. You can't increase air capacity beyond definition in game.inf. You can't increase your speed in water (compare it to simplicity of increasing jump height).

Overally, I think sea depths are untapped potential, and maybe in next version of Stranded we see some development here. I mean, come on - how much new food types do we really need? Meanwhile I'm trying to add new level of gameplay with expansion of enviroments I found lacking. I'm afraid I'm not good enough with 3D modeling to make it truly enjoyable. Well, we'll see.

you CAN increase the underwater speed... just use the s2 cmd player_speed command, maybe with an s2 cmd if command and the heighht of the player ( if(gety("unit",1)<0) {blar;} )

and you CAN increase the air capacy, just by giving the player new air with s2 cmd air or changing a command in the game.inf

btw: nice idee, looks great adding your new models to the random islands would be important too...

Yes, I am aware of this workaround. Thats why I said "compare to changing jump height", where you can make adjustment without additional timer to check player position. Actually, it is (y <=-8.5)

the command is supposed to _refill_ the air bar... it won't look so great, but you can just refill the air bar once it is almost empty -> you have the global defined amount twice/...

I am intregued by the idea of flying

not to be a pestamisist but i was wondering if this is ever discounted but you got far enough to finish the flying part could you release it

Flying and diving is functional and tested,but there is no point in releasing now. First of all you need a good map. I don't aim for anything big, I know you have to balance scope of a project and your motivation. I would rather make something small, but fun and bug free, than start a huge project I'm unable to finish before my interest runs out.

Keep in mind some of us have nine to five job and family, so don't hold your breath.

I made this topic to see if there will be any feedback, all kind words in this thread are very important to me.

PS. Flying is not really "flying", don't be disappointed

Very nice, I don't want to let this tread sink to the next page, so I'll make a suggestion:
For the "airnet" why not call it "air tank", or if it is made of something like a seashell, you could call it "air shell".

I am all for "air balloon" - I guess it is probably a caoutchouc bubble reinforced by a net.

If you want to put a focus on diving, I have a proposal to make:
An anchored wooden platform in the sea (can only be erected up to a certain height above the sea ground), with a hole in the middle and a gallows or crane from which a rope hangs down. The rope has several sections, and if you use one you get teleported 1 section up, just like on the rope of the tree house. That way you can return to the surface very fast.

I am enthused by the idea of a kite. This is something the game has waited for.
And again, I have a proposal to make: you could pimp it with disposable fireworks-type rockets to increase the range. You could have, let's say, three slots to attach them and every time you hit the boost button, one ignites.

Can you set up some kind of "kite stance" to have more height to start from?

Those are some nice ideas EwokChieftain. Another idea I just though of was, been able to grow underwater plants, e.g. AirWeed. It would give more "purpose" to going underwater. Hope that helps.

Actually, I was thinking of a structure smiliar to what water spiders make, but holding air by surface tention only won't work in bigger scale

Kite in my game is a stationary structure, that serves a few purposes, none of which is lifting a player. What is your idea of a kite?

I was thinking about "jump tower", and I made a model, but it would break the game. There is a stance already, and to build it you have to kill a lot of animals. There would be no sense in building a stance if you could build a jump tower instead. Moreover, to benefit from a higher starting altitude, I would have to write very complicated script, it's not worth it. (But I'm learning as I mod, and my scripts are getting better, so I can't predict where my attempts lead me)

Firework booster is a very good idea, I'm going to try that.

Ooo, interesting.
I don't know whether you want ideas for your mod, but these things are ticking in the back of my mind:

Dolphins
Rays
Jellyfish (with added sting effect :P)
Coral reefs
Underwater farming (airweed and stuff)
Caves underwater that trap air:

When you tame dolphins you should be able to ride them, maybe be able too dive and swim up with them too.

They are all very good ideas, in fact, I was thinking about all of them (with exception of underwater farming).

Unfortunetally, I'm not good enough with graphic software to made decent looking units. Thats why I go more for mechanics and scripts.

One more thing. Imagine - a whale. Huge monster size of an island :D.
