Env_sprite entities? I can just delete them simple... they do not protect your map from being edited. The only thing that protects your map is lots of Gen_Weather.

There is good portal map by Hitsygaya.nl with snowy protection:

If you ask me, this is mostly "Trust-Case".

Which means that if you make a map, there is no way to prevent someone copying it ---> you just simply have to TRUST other players, and if they do copy your map ---> be happy that someone likes it like DC said and hope that they are not completely crap-players so they might add your name to creds.

Lee can even do headshots in CS2D.

Okay, it's done, took me a bit of a while to create a map to get all of the entity codes, but the rest was easy to do.

Note: This is in no way claiming that the following file is mine. It's merely a demonstration.

Original Map:
http://www.speedyshare.com/708372265.html

After taking out the 'snowy protection' thing
http://www.speedyshare.com/996472773.html

Note: the snowy protection is just basically adding 50 or so steam entities into the map. Basically just keep on randomly adding steams until your game crashes...

How...you.....this is impossible! how u do this ???

Given that I think this is a valid and creative protection system for maps, I'm not going to give out how I disabled the protection system. At most I will say that I had to write a program to help me disable the steam entities.

lee did crack it alright, but it can still be effective. Note that lee did spend some time trying to find the entities. I'd imagine that he probably used some type of map editor outside of CS2D.
I'm not sure if I'm thinking what lee is thinking. But whatever.

No, cs2d uses integer values to find out what each entity represents (a classic enum-and-switch block). The problem was that I didn't know what each integer represented. So I had to make a whole new map and add all of the different types of entities and name each one to find out what they each represent. Everything else was entirely scripted

5 seconds you said? I can run this map in the editor for over one minute without a crash (with the normal, unmodified cs2d map editor). it even takes a while until the fps go down to 4. the faster your pc is the longer you can run it.

only problem is to find the entities.

however everyone who has programming knowledge and some time could write a program as leegao did and publish it.

the same problem as for every protection.

Fixed in notepad.exe, not hard to remove the snow.
I don't need to make a program to remove it.

The dead entities are still in the map however so they aren't removed so much as unusable. The problem with this technique comes when you have a map with an extraordinary amount of entities to fix.

You see no snow because the trigger_start removes the snow.(Cause you put in the Properties,Trigger, snow(which is the name for the snow weather))

Yes, but the snow and the freezing is now removed.
And it's now easier to see how the map is made.

Then if it's people that want to "remake" the map.
Is up to them, to fix the rest.

Thank you for the suggestion guys.
*Adding snow prottection
*Large Black Sprites to cover map
*Lots of Env_Hurts
*Extra back up entities
"Basicly I spam the map like hell, and make it as difficult as I can to crack it"

I know its nice thing to know that my map is good that people want to steal it, but it hurts me that people have no respect for me to not credit me, or simply make my map crap for fun. Sure people can learn from other people's maps, but to many people edit maps and claim it as their own.
Its like theres to many unethical pieces of shit out there, that they ruin it for the rest. "Kinda like hunting and fishing..."

You can play the map, but you cannot edit the map.
