I don't know... I didn't check it, but on the last version that I got, whenever I finished a research qeue then it just kept on going on without stopping... there was no limit to how many times I could (research)

OK good news there. the new (and painfully long for you to wait for ) version of null mod is done-null mod 1.3.
there have been major fixes (one even from the original stranded! i think that one will be funny) and addings.
i have also added new buttons for the research (e.g. tools icon is a spade) and there are new items and objects,realistic changes (like stumps forming when you cut a tree with an axe),everything in the change log.
some notes:
to process ore into metals,drop the ore and punch it with a hammer. the refining platform will be added soon,and since it is summer holidays,i can make fixes and new versions in no time.

Research is ungodly slow, like go make a sandwich and come back and its still running, and when you do finally finish it doesn't tell you what you can make, or how to do it. Seems like a wasted addition to me, spend hours "unlocking" unknown items, also there is no back button in the research so you have to constantly exit the screen, and re-enter to read the descriptions on each sub-category.

Lastly I noticed there is some blue mess around the lower right hand corner where your equiped item is shown, doesn't affect the game at all but looks kinda odd.

research is SUPPOSED to be slow,can you invent a weapon in real life in 10 minutes? like gunpowder took 2000 years to discover... your only request that makes sense is that back button and the unknown things to unlock. both will be added in next version.

I was researching in the desk in adventure mode and somehow the lion manged to wander far enough to the hill on the other side and I could do nothing other than stand and die
And for the research stuff I have a better Idea
You take some item to the desk and you start a little process which trades in that object for the research currency related to that item
then you trade that currency for a consumable schematic which on use unlocks the combination and you can no longer buy that schematic anymore
For e.g. A stone when researched gives 10 stone research points and the schematic for stone hammer requires 10 stone points
you buy the schematic,eat it and then make a hammer
and for metal
you take it to the research desk,it gives you 10 iron research points and you buy a iron spear schematic for those points
the points could also be interchangable for e.g.
You could trade iron points for stone points and vice versa but not wood for stone points as they share little to no common trait?

How is ungodly long "realistic" research fun? The character in the game isn't Neanderthal man. He's a modern day man who happens to be on a deserted island. How the hell do I know how to make a research desk but not a butterfly net?

Reading about the mod it sounded interesting, but playing it, it just seems to add lots of dead time to a game that isn't super action packed to begin with.

yakumo,it is a MOD,not the original stranded,it is not a modern guy,and this mod is supposed to be starting in ancient eras. the adventure i left is supposed to be just for fun,you can create your own map and play with it and when you research some weapons,believe me,its not so boring.

damage types will be added.
researching with processes is no more. you now need to use items to gain research points,build buildings which increase one time points or per day,and then just deplete them to gain your technology. this was due to Yakumo's request,so you can do it in parts and not just stand still 5 minutes and get bored.
and some more regular addings like more items and objects.

I tried a random map but all it gave me was a huge flat empty island, so other than playing the story (which goes against the idea of the mod), how should I go about starting a game?

EDIT: Okay. i completed the SP method of research. but there is a bug which i cant solve: it uses all of your sp in the part you choose (e.g. you got 200 points and you research agriculture. it will spend 40 for the wheat but also use another 70 for the second research which is berries and grapes). ill try to solve it as soon as i think of a solution,and by now i think you should only research when you have exactly the SP required for 1 research if you dont wanna lose other SP to get something else.
