@VaiN What exceptions are getting thrown when you try to compile the project under Mono?

Actually none. It runs fine, but doesn't do what it should. For example no clipboard functionality, the form doesn't redraw when resized (easily fixed), and other small things that in all rendered it useless. I think the clipboard issues are related to the graphic class, but I will have to mess with it more to narrow down the problems.

@Blazzingxx Where did you find the same tool? I looked for hours before deciding to create it. If you come across it again let me know, I would like to see how they went about it. As far as people needing it I suppose they don't really. It's intended to make the process more convenient to encourage more original and creative maps.

@wups What shortcuts would you like added? These can be added easily depending on the keys used.

@LinuxGuy Thanks, I'm glad you like it. Hopefully I'll have a linux compatible version for you soon.

You can back port it to .Net Framework 1.x which provides support for all 2000, xp platforms.

I'm not familiar with back porting applications. Version 1.0 Beta currently requires .Net Framework 3.5 and I have updated the first post to reflect this. It doesn't use any 3.5-specific code so I had assumed 2.0 (which it does use) would be sufficient.

To download and install .net framework 3.5 only takes a minute or so, and so many programs require it I figured most windows users would already have it and could just run it without any problems.

As far as porting this to other formats/platforms I don't think I will be doing so. This was supposed to be a quick and easy tool and has already required far more effort than was ever intended. Instead I will be releasing the source so others can do whatever they want with it.

Version 3 is now released! Now supports tile properties. Let me know if you experience any bugs.

I have also decided to use what I have learned in creating this program and started working on an external map editor. Let me know if you have any suggestions for that as well.

Don't have suggestions, but this is how i read maps in C#.
I don't know if you have the XNA framework, but with this program I can also render the cs2d maps using XNA.
There are some hardcoded map directories in my code, just replace them with your own. Also, I used Visual Studio 2008, so it's best to open it with that for compatability.

No problem...good that you download it...its really cool and just to say you this...when you wanna save a picture...go on File>Save As>And than where the .ora stay you writte .jpeg

So you need to convert than the picture to BMP...why that format use the tiles for CS2D...

...and one more here is a good software for resizing the pictures to tiles and to change they to BMP

http://vso-image-resizer.softonic.de/

It resize they really great and tiles must be 32x32 Pixels...ok...the software is free and the resized picture be much better when you save it with this software than with paint...trust me...just when you resizing pictures go on Mode Crop and than set 32x32 px-pixels...go than on more options and than set FIltering Cubic and Format set BMP...thats all what you need to know about this software when you use it for making TIles...or for editing tiles how I and my first tile was a normal sand tile with blood...
