Drawf Fort is a Survival Building Game , Sort of like Stranded , But instead , you aint stranded , and You Are Commanding SEVERAL dwarfs , and there are no "chars which the player controls" , no , its a game where you control several dwarfs to do specific stuff , and there are soldiers , wars which enemies do (orcs , elves , etc etc) and Even Sieges , each drawfs have personal options , some might like those walls , but few could hate it and it will impact his skills and movements , a fort with every drawf happy will be busting with wealth , as every drawf is happy to be in that fort , Dwarves will be made happier by any number of good things - they'll appreciate having good furniture, will be comforted by pets, and each has a list of things they enjoy, such as material types, animals, and foods. To offset this, they will be made less happy by things like going without alchohol for extended periods (the little guys like their drink!), being attacked, getting caught in nasty weather such as snowstorms and rain, seeing their brethren rot without coffins, and much more. If your dwarf gets too irritated, he will throw tantrums and start fist-fights, which will make them happier at the expense of their targets. If a dwarf gets unhappy enough, he runs the risk of going berserk, trying to kill everything in his path, being stricken with depression, where he'll sit in an available bed and sulk, or simply going insane. As in a later game you might have upwards of 80 dwarves, it's a challenge to manage their needs, but if you keep a good food stockpile and give them places to rest, you'll find that they're relatively reasonable when dealing with setbacks , - Dig to obtain precious gems and metal ore, crossing a subterranian river and bottomless chasm, eventually reaching a lava flow, which you can use to negate any need for coal for your furnaces and forges. As you dig deeper, however, nastier monsters will appear - eventually, your fortress -will- deteriorate and fall, as balrogs and dragons start to appear.

- Make trap systems of great complexity - set up cage traps around your well to catch the critters that often decide to crawl up. Place a support beam in a large enough room, possibly your treasury, link it to a pressure plate in the entrance, and enemies will be buried in tons of rock upon entering. Made a weapon, of any sort? Use it in a weapon trap. Build floodgates, channels, and aqueducts to divert water or lava to flood a room or block critters that are logically impeded by them (be careful to place doors between the room and the rest of the fortress, or else the whole place will be flooded). Make levers to control bridges, floodgates, and supports. You can link up any number of them, alongside pressure plates and such, in any way you choose. There was more, but I forgot , Use the floodgates and channels to make farms for your dwarves - an essential source of food, especially after your fisherdwarves stop pulling in enough to feed everyone. Fertilize fields with potash made with lye in the Ashery, and define what to grow every season for each plot.

- Make wood, stone, metal, and bone crafts to trade with caravans from human, elf, and dwarf alike. Decorate these with jewels, bone, shell, and metal - your craftsdwarves will often inlay them with images of the creatures, trees, and plants they like with whichever material you choose. As dwarves become more skilled, they will create better quality items, which fetch higher prices. Masterpieces and artifacts are possible, though the latter depends on mysterious trances which might drive the dwarf insane if you can't get the materials you need for their work.

- Nobility! As your fortress grows, they start to move in, like so many leeches. They are not without their uses, however - your metalworkers can create coins, which are distributed amongst your dwarves, and items are then ownable. In essence, an economy develops , but most nobles will request rooms , offices , and many stuff , and will just sit back , and do nothing(other then hauling some light stuff) ,

- changing Drawfs. drawfs can change , say , you have a drawf who always work inside the fortress , and rarely comes out , after a few Game years , they will prefer the dark of your fortress so much that when he comes out , he will slow down due to the sun which he is not used to , and vice vista , plus , if a drawf always spents his time in the millitary , he might lose all his social skills and will hate it when he is disbanded , same as for the working drawfs , too much and they will hate being recruited , this brings a new balance challage

- critical parts , internal organs , and weapon types. the challenging thing about fighting enermies , is that , there are critical parts (brains , heart , etc , etc) that can cause instand kill , and also chopping off the hands/legs can cripple them from doing several things , there are also different weapon types , as follow :

swords : the jack of all trades weapon , they are good and cuting off limbs , piercing critical organs , bashing them a few tile away , etc , but they are best at none

Axes : excelent at taking out limbs , but bad at the others

spears : called the strongest weapon in the game , its not because of damage , but piercing , it can instant kill any organic creature with ease , it also have a rank of being stuck into enermys alot

there are more , but i cant be bordered to write , and now , to the most fun and Epic feature of the game :

KILL INVADERS WITH STYLE!

Yes , it is! , Make magma Flow there and toast them! Freeze Them With Ice And Winter! Make a Big Drawbridge , Then When A Group of Bombastic Invaders Come , Draw the Bridge Up and Watch as They Fly into a gang of armed drawfs and get Owned! or Build A Alley Of Death , and Spat! Groups Of Goblins Squashed Flat!

the game indeed is Fun , but More Fun When You Download It And Find out The Huge Amounts Of Fun Features!

Download : http://mayday.w.staszic.waw.pl/~mayday/upload/DFG21.zip
just open it with winZip or WinRar , run Dwarf Fort.Exe , and you are done!

Please Read : for The Sake Of God , when You Are Going To Close The Game , Please use Task manager to do it , Or you may find yourself needing to restart your computer
and yes , the game really is hard , there is a guide that will help you make your own fort , i link it here : http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=31928.0
and see part 1 to 14 , not just partly.

That game sucks
• You don't understand the graphics
• You have to control everything with your keyboard; mouse would be so much easier
• It's english so i don't understand every 2nd word

Also it is stupid that a HUGE map gets generated (this generation lasts ~15 minutes)
But after the generation you do play only in a very small part of it

not actually
it requires a good computer to play the huge part of the map
English?then you must hate every game in the game industry(at least the good ones)
Mouse is supported
Thats why custom tilesets are for

But in this game you have to know what all those things like "carpenter" mean (i didn't ), otherwise you dont know what to build.

Also, many games in the game industry get translated!

And mouse is only supported in some few screens, so if you want to use the mouse you have to switch between mouse and keyboard all the time. (Your arm hurts after a few minutes)

And in the screens where mouse would be most useful (like selecting an area on the map) it is not supported so you have to push dozens of times your arrow keys to select an area on the map.

And actually you cannot play on the whole map.
You have to select one region out of i think 100x100 generated regions.
And inside this region you also choose one small part.

but think of it
A 100x100 map area with a -150 z depth
this is actually much more bigger than many sandbox games(except minecraft) on the industry
this product is actually magnificent for a freeware
But 3D or even working isometric graphics would make the game much more easier even if that thing was ugly

EDIT:Got a hang of irrigation
so I flooded my field mistakenly
Its all 4/7,How do I dry it off?

I've been playing this game for half a year now. I got to say it might be the best game i have ever played. I can basically do anything I want. getting down the basics is hard but well worth it. now when i know how to do everything (except advanced military managing) I'm just building whatever i want.

I really recommend this game, although DF requires A LOT of patience.
