Hi DC and everyone. I've just finished the Adventure maps and now I want to translate the game to Spanish for those unfortunate that doesn't speak English. It will be my first major contribution to a game comunity. I've enjoyed the game so much and that's why I've decided to do the translation. In my opinion this is a great game for kids (I'm 22) and I want to publish this site, with the game download link as well, in my personal pages.

Now, to the project.
I'm planing to translate the entire game but that will take a while, so I will split the work in different parts, starting with the most important and finishing with the least. I'll use this list as a guide.

1a.names                              DONE
1b.descriptions and msjes     DONE
1c.Tutorial                         IN COURSE
1d.Adventure dialogues and Diary entries (I will have to modify the *.s2s map files as the dialogues and entriesare in the sripts)
2.Trade dialogues options
3.Tower defense, Random Island, Color game and Raptor hunter gamemod's instructions
4.Editor tools

I may be missing some things here, but I will find them as I test the translation in-game. Of course, the testing will also prevent me from translating code words and frases that will brake the game.

So, I will be posting my progress in this thread, and when the first stage is completed and tested, I'll upload it in the proper section of this site.
Any comment or sugestion are more than welcome.

EDIT
I found the first problem, I cannot use this simbols: á é í ó ú ñ. Is there any way to enable them in game?

The fonts are saved in
> mods/Stranded II/sys/gfx/font_........bmp files

the character set / bitmap font character information
> mods/Stranded II/sys/gfx/font_norm.bmpf

they are crated with the Unreal Software Bitmap Font Wizard. I think it should be possible to create new fonts and a new bmpf file by using the bitmap font wizard because all Spanish characters are using the ASCII charset (Stranded II is limited to this charset)

Bitmap Font Wizard:
www.unrealsoftware.de/get.php?get=bmpfontwiz.zip
(you have to use the BitmapFontWizard_bmpf.exe because the other one can't export bmpf files)

unfortunately I don't remember the settings/fonts I used for the original bitmap fonts. handwriting was a normal bitmap font which has been modified with paint afterwards.

it's probably easier to ignore the ´ and ~ and to write a instead of á etc.

Thanks for the tools. I'll see if I can do it, but if it's too much trouble I'll just do what you say and put the vowels without the mark. It's not that bad either.
