Let's hear some opinions on the best combinations
for security.

A)Antivirus/Internet Security
B)Anti-Malware/Anti-Spyware.
C)Firewalls
D)Extra Security Software compatible with category A.
-security that adds extra protection, like ThreatFire.
E)Others-e.g. cleaners.. mem optimizers.. etc.

My favorite combo is

A) NOD32 (Antivirus | Not free)
B) Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (Anti-Malware | Free)
SuperAntiSpyware (Anti-Spyware,malware,etc..|Free)
C) ZoneAlarm (Firewall | Free)
D) none.
E) CCleaner,TuneupUtilities2010,GlaryUtilitiesPro

NOD32 is by ESET, Eset.com
Requires subscription, but VERY Reliable.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware by Malwarebytes,
Malwarebytes.org Free, but has a pro version[realtime scanner,etc]
You shouldn't need pro version if you manually scan your computer often.

SuperAntiSpyware by SuperAntiSpyware,
SuperAntiSpyware.com Free, but also has a pro version with extra features, realtime scanner, etc... It has an excellent detection rate.

ZoneAlarm Firewall Free OR Pro by ZoneAlarm,
ZoneAlarm.com
Free for well.. the free version. This firewall is very good, doesn't mess with your computer performance much. Overall a perfect fit for me.

CCleaner by Piriform,
Piriform.com
An amazing system optimizer/Cleaner tool which is recommended by many and is rated very high.

C) Zone Alarm (free)
D) /
E) TuneUp Utilities (some older versions are free, e.g. tune up 2007, which was the best in my opinion)

Incidentally, @TKD
I have once used AVG(free) before..
Some weird bug happened to my w-xp
had to sys restore it.

Couldn't go on any browser, but could connect to only direct connections(non-webserver connections)

I've always hated AVG and never thought it was any good.

But here is my total combination so far

A.) Avast
B.) MalwareBytes
C.) Windows Firewall
D.) None
E.) None

I rarely have any problems with viruses, in fact, I think the last time I actually ever got a virus was about a few months ago which was a trojan.

i use 'Trend Micro Secuirity' (by itself). It's MUCH better than AVG, avast, windows firewall, ect. every time i get a virus it deletes it!

I think it honestly depends.

The only time when I hear people get a virus is if they download so much free (illegal) stuff, visit loads of websites that are full of malware or whatever.

And although I could be wrong about what I've said above, but that really is the only time when I know people have problems with viruses.

I've really never had this problem, I rarely download a lot of files anyway and I think CS2D was the last file that I downloaded (according to my firefox download box anyway)

Um.. I'm removing my vote from Comodo firewall hehe.. slowed down my internet to..its very slow basically.

I currently use NOD32,malwarebytes anti-malware,ccleaner,comodo firewall, and comodo slows it down a whole lot....

Well.. i'm using these things in a virtual environment.

Edit: I now use ZoneAlarm as my firewall.
