Most people do have more than 1 computer hooked up to the internet, it's safe to assume hosting a website would be on a router.

Moreover, if you were to host you should rent.

DNS translates www.google.com into 74.125.79.104..

You can also find out by typing ping google.com in command line.
I don't know why you are talking about my webserver by the way..
Actually google has loads of name servers. How do I know? well, if you ping Google different IP-adresses shows up, in my case (today) one of Google's name servers are 173.194.32.48 > . Name servers replicate a website in order to make it load quicker, if not anything else.

If you're running Windows 7 then I recommend getting WAMP. With that you could make your computer turn into a web server and host several websites on it if you wished to. I use WAMP and it's pretty good, I recommend you to try it.

If you're creating a website you need at least basic skills in HTML and perhaps some knowledge of PHP if you're gonna write that into your webpages I wish you the best of luck!

I want to note here, just incase anyone doesn't know, that when you 'host a server' it doesn't make a request to some magical 'internet computer' which handles everything. It's hosted on your computer. That means other computers are asking a program on your computer, that obviously has to be running, and thus taking up CPU, to send files to their computers to be displayed. If you don't have a computer you're willing to keep on 24/7, and don't have another option such as VPS, than webhosting is not something you should look into
