No, user Alistaire:, Visual Basic is for idiocy. I would advise that you learn Lua or Python first, then go on to learn languages like C/C++, Java, PERL and LISP. Also, NEVER use BASIC.

Also, stfu. He asked about a program language; Lua isn't a program language.

If you know Vbs then you can start with .Net which is a program language.

Lua is a programming language. It is just used for scripting a lot.

Wikipedia has written
Lua is a lightweight multi-paradigm programming language designed as a scripting language with extensible semantics as a primary goal.

Don't talk such bullshit. .NET is a pathetic little framework written by the equivalent of a programmer's pet mouse, and most definitely NOT a programming language. Lua can be used as a programming language, however, like Java/Python it has to be run inside a VM. Although Lua was PRIMARILY designed for embedded use it can be used on it's own, similar to Python and Java, as I already said.

So, as I have said to some people before, don't argue on a topic you do not understand.

Lua ( IT'S A PRONOUN, NOT AN ACRONYM ) is both a programming and scripting ( embeddable ) language.

HTML is a markup language, not a programming/scripting language.
