sure, Dubstep is no music ... kid you should read this

I like how you send a wikipedia article to someone who has been studying music for 10 years. Yes, I've been studying in a music school for 7 years before I decided to drop out on my last year, and right now at this moment, I play 4 instruments.
So I think I have the right to dislike "music" that requires no talent except moderate computer literacy. Thank you very much, and let's stop this discussion. Unless you have some solid arguments to back your "point of view" up except a shitty Wikipedia article.

P.S. Oh, and as a side note, Wikipedia articles should never be used as an argument, they should only be used to find necessary information and then check other sources out to see if something written there is actually true.
That is what we've been taught for our research papers by a guy who has successfully written and defended a doctoral thesis. I doubt that he could've been wrong.

anyway dubstep is music and for me its 10000000 better than your fag bands

Did you just call bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers or Fugazi "fag bands"? Sorry, but that just proves how much of an idiot you are. Educate yourself a bit more, then come here talking.

Wait, do you have something against gay people? You could be sued for that.

Dot Hacker is lead by Josh Klinghoffer, the current guitarist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He also plays over 10 instruments. 16, if his Wikipedia article is right. I think that is proof that he is a talented and great musician, and a band founded by him must surely be good. It's members are all talented musicians, but I can't write about each of them.

Skrillex plays only one instrument - guitar.

John Frusciante was the guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers and has released 10 solo albums and 1 EP. 6 of those albums were released in 2004. Yes, that's right, he released 6 full length albums in ONE year. He is the top 18th greatest guitarist according to the Rolling Stone magazine. The RHCP have released multiple platinum albums with him, some of them received the platinum status more than once. Oh, and did I mention that he can also sing and play multiple instruments?

Skrillex has tried a carrier in signing as a post-hardcore band From First to Last, but the band was a failure, although their album Heroine could be deemed commercially successful. During his 5-year solo carrier he has released 4 EP's as Skrillex and 1 EP as Sonny.

Fugazi was the band that "invented" the post-hardcore genre. The genre that many current bands try to create songs in, but fail and go to screamo instead. Fugazi was a band that acted against violence, moshing, for example, discrimination against gay people, black people and women, and against greed. Their CD's were worth 10 dollars and concert tickets 5 dollars, and they have also helped underground artists from Washington, D.C. record songs and sell CD's. (label site is http://www.dischord.com.) One of their frontmen Ian MacKaye has written the song Straight Edge, that was chosen as a name for the anti-alcohol, anti-tobacco and anti-drug youth movement Straightedge.

Skrillex charges ~60$-400$ for a ticket. Hasn't contributed much to the society.

Ataxia has John Frusciante on guitars and vocals, Josh Klinghoffer on drums and synthesizers and Joe Lally on bass. Joe Lally was the bassist for Fugazi. If 3 extremely talented musicians aren't enough for a band to be good, then how about the fact that they have written two albums, Automatic Writing and AW2, in TWO weeks? AW was released in 2004 and AW2 was released in 2007. However they were both written in 2 weeks.

Skrillex has released 4 EP's as Skrillex and 1 EP as Sonny in 5 years. That is an EP per year. While Ataxia would've released 52 albums if going with the same tempo. Just numbers, nothing real, just possible numbers.

Mos Def is considered to be one of the most iconic figures in Rap history, has acted in a lot of successful films and series and is an activist. Is known for his song Kalifornia, that was used in the Biker Boyz soundtrack. Has also collaborated with Mark Ronson, Trombone Shorty, Zigaboo Modeliste, members of the Dap Kings and Erikah Badu on the track "A La Modeliste" in the Re:GENERATION project. All of the mentioned musicians are world-known Jazz musicians, Zigaboo Modeliste being the legendary Jazz drummer.

Skrillex appeared on the Re:GENERATION project with members of The Doors. His first idea for a beat wasn't well-received by them, so they had to re-do it.

Gnarls Barkley was founded by Cee Lo Green, one of the greatest voices of the time and Brian Burton, known as Danger Mouse, the influential producer, that was listed as one of the 75 most influential people of the 21st century by the Esquire magazine. Their first song "Crazy" was a 2006 hit and was number one in music charts in the UK, Ireland, Denmark, Canada, New Zealand and numerous other countries.

Skrillex never had a number one song. Although a few of his EP's were number one in some, but not a lot of countries.

Now please, your turn. I am very entertained.

@user palomino: He's not being a homophobe jesus christ calm down, he was calling certain bands "gay" because he doesn't consider them manly/or very girly and not much of worth. He's making a comparison.

Here, I'll make a comparison:

Justin Bieber is a gay "band", while Hanson was pretty rocking.

There, I just used a sexual remark but I wasn't being a homophobe.

And no need to get all fucking technical and start listing off facts, wow, calm the fuck down. He has an opinion, and his opinion is that he doesn't like those bands. Respect that opinion, or ignore it in it's entirety. You don't have to try and prove a point here, because it'll always be a moot one when put up against opinions.

But yes, Skrillex is laughable. He's only popular because he saturated teen's musical "tastes" with excess wub wub. It's catchy, annoyingly so, and is really easy to appreciate if you don't understand the finer arts of music. Much like an average man will love beer, and only beer, but a fine wine and vodka taster will enjoy the rich flavours of various upper-class brands.

user SmD, ye, u find is gud, dubstep is gud, no argue, srkllx!1!
No, Dubstep can be good sometimes (with real artist such as Nero, or other that know what "melody" means), but most of them are repetitive shit, no melody at all and really annoying (as is Hardstyle, for example, same beat as always).
But you CAN find exceptions for any of them - Dubstep or Hardstyle.

Anyway, i don't have favorite bands, i use the band names just as a source for related songs. Most of the bands can't stick with a single type of music, so they change with time (like Devil Wears Prada - from an awesome mix of metalcore/alternative rock to screamo shit).
Anyway, these are my actual top 7 favorite songs:
• Michael Jackson - Thriller
• Cage The Elephant - Ain't No rest For The Wicked
• Hadouken! - Mecha Love
• The Devil Wears Prada - Louder Than Thunder
• Tasters Choice - Sleep Forever
• Queen - Show Must Go On
• Michael Nyman - A Wild And Distant Shore

They are clearly not in order (as you can see this beautiful piece at last position), one for each moment, mood, and place, just as music should be.

If there was any way to thumbs-up user Mechanolith's comment, or +1 it, I would've mashed that button so hard that my mouse would have broken. Not all dubstep is bad, or dull, or samey. Nero is decent, as a good example, there are even crossover genres, those that are half this, or half that.

Anyway to get back to the topic, here are some of my favourites - I have a couple of favourite bands by the name of Machinae Supremacy, Cheap Trick and Deadmau5, but ultimately these are my favourite tunes:

Savant: Living iPod.
Machinae Supremacy: Through the looking glass.
E.S. Posthumus: Nara.
Cheap Trick: Closer.

There are many more that I can list, that I should, but there are far too many that I have heard over my lifetime. Musical pieces of intricate and amazing beauty. I do have a couple of favourite dubstep songs too, but I have so many of everything that this page would fall into an abyss of links, and my post would be removed due to spam

Shut up user SmD, Skrillex means hardly anything to us so there's no need to spam, seriously what the fuck kiddo.

Skrillex takes over 100$ for a ticket, I just checked that on ticket booking sites.
He sells his EP's, doesn't he? So he does make money.
John Frusciante has played with numerous bands as well, and that didn't stop him from releasing a shitload of full-length albums. Some bands and musicians from his Wikipedia page: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ataxia, Josh Klinghoffer, The Mars Volta, Omar Rodríguez-López, Venetian Snares, Swahili Blonde, Warpaint, Truth Hurts.

Why should I believe you and not an official ticket booking site?
Anyway, as the thread author I cease this discussion here and now. Every other argument relating to me and Rain_'s debate beyond this post should be considered spam, and I will ask mods to remove them.
