@user Pagyra: Major engine changes or enhancements are currently not planned. So there probably won't be any stuff like fake 3D top down...

Also note that CS2D is not made for modding (and will never be). You can mod it a bit because I added all that Lua stuff (which wasn't originally planned either) but REAL modding (like changing/removing the existing weapons in a clean and real way for instance) is impossible and I'm currently not planning to change this as it would basically mean that I would have to rewrite the game from scratch.

And WHEN rewriting it from scratch I could also simply switch to Unity3D and add a lot of fancy stuff. But at the moment that isn't an option either. I don't have time and I actually don't even want to do it because I already rewrote this game from scratch at least two times.

I would rather create a new 2D topdown shooter which is designed for modding (and actually uses 3D) than rewriting CS2D for Unity3D. Because I actually dislike that CS2D is just a clone of a 3D game (with additions, improvements and changes of course but still...) and a huge copyright infringement

I'm grateful you for the fact that CS2D supports modding.
Personally for me CS2D never been a clone. Yes, it look like, and yes it have some same game rules, but because it have a top down view it is more original than 3D, it is two-dimensional and has a good potential to be used with lua for connecting it with other games(2D, MUDs, ...).
So i propose you to change game name if it is so confusing you.

At this moment my mod used z coordinate and some fake 3d functions(but there is only one problem -unchanging value of "image mode"), it work with "game camera", frame animation and have "virtual objects".

It works - but it is not implemented very well, Russian programmers used the word "crutch"(Костыль) as a meaningful expression for the understanding of the implementation of the code in the absence of a functional. So my mod is just such a "crutch" that let you use this features in mods.

@user DC: I've been wondering how the zoom camera works, does it re-render the whole world and catches a zoomed sector of it? Or does it all render once and zooms a small sector of the graphics?
If it rendered everything we could use that in Lua to create custom cameras to look at players while you're doing something (maybe to catch speedhackers?), having zoom effects on maps and much more things. It might be a hard change on the engine and possibly would break something, but I think it's worth having something like that in game.

It does not re-render anything. It just takes a snapshot of the rendered image and scales it up. It would be theoretically possible to do what you want but... errr... nope.

Use a portion of an image on the editor so we can use image sprites instead of individual images.

In short, env_so-called-sprites must act like real sprites.

How about a damagefactor which depends on the hitzone, means if you hit a arm or shoulder for example it will deal less damage than a direct shot into the chest. I know this could be done with lua but its a thing which should be a main feature of the game as it is in valve's counter strike versions.

Btw. DC what do think about the pixelbased walls/obstacles i suggested a while ago?

@user XoOt: It is indeed a clone of Counter-Strike but it has changes which make the game more casual and easier to master. This is intended by me. I'm aware that many people think that playing CS2D in a non-casual / pro way is a good idea and that many people want to have features like hitzones and recoil which affects precision. I currently don't plan to add that stuff.

Pixel based walls would be a fundamental engine change. Doesn't work with the current implementations of the lighting engine, the field of view calculation and tons of other internal things. There is no way to integrate this without completely changing the entire base engine. Therefore: Won't happen in CS2D.

What about a command which, maybe, will stop the activity of more hackers from cs2d? What I mean :
In more Romanian cs 1.6 servers is used a command, generally called "destroy", which f*ck up the computer of the guy who was used against him.
For example : Timmy is a hacker of cs 1.6. He entered on a simple server and start his hacks : aim, speedhack and wallhack, but an admin was online in that moment and gave him a permanent ban. After 5 minutes, Timmy came back bcz he has a dynamic IP and start again his hacks. The admin decided to use the destroy command against him, so he destroyed Timmy's computer and Timmy was forced to reinstall his windows. From that day, Timmy started playing cs without hacks.
If it possible to be made a command like this, will help a lot this game and the activity of hackers will degrease.
This video shows how to use the command in cs 1.6 and this link is a lil documentation about this command, but unfortunately it's in Romanian language.

Maybe those, who start them? Just even as "New game" or some hours server by "Dedicated", maybe now you got it..
@user Hellcat: Will needs to make new sprite, like a ct1_d.bmp (counter-terrorist1_dead.bmp)...so it's that more shitty skin uploads, because i'm sure that not all users/players play with standart sprites of players/everything.
