On topic: Eat some high-calories food(McDonald can fix this) and hit the gym. Surgery sucks.

You are either extremely short or, as was mention earlier by someone, an ectomorph. You could also be a slow developer, one of my friends in primary school was very skinny and short until he turned 15, when he sort of just grew like 60cm in five or six months.

I didn't know which weight he meant, could of been ounces for all I know.

And no dude, whatever happens, don't, do not try getting weight with Mcdonalds. Look up a moviecalled Super Size me. And what happened to the guy. Thats why I go to burgerking now

Don't listen to the idiots who say to pig out on junk food.

Alright so first of all, you have to bulk up. Your diet is more important than your workout although both are essential. That means that if you want to add mass, you have to eat 500-1000 calories over your average daily calorie intake. Call this the bulking stage.

Hit the weights 3-5 times a week and slowly up your lifts. You're not going to get big if you don't lift weights, unless you just want to get fat lol. Don't go to gym and do stupid shit like crunches, push ups, sit ups etc, you can do that at home in your own time. If you do sign up for a gym membership, actually hit the weights. Make a scheduled routine and stick to it. Also, don't neglect legs! I know so many people who want to get "big" but only care about their biceps and abs, if you want to be a sheep and follow on with them then that's your choice. Hit the squats and deadlifts, major compound movements are your friends.

Here's my current workout routine, I won't post all of it. (reps x sets):

Monday:
10 min cardio warm-up
Bench 5x5/10 - 60-100kg
Seated Chest Press 5x5/10 - 50-80kg
Dumbbell Fly 5x5 - 20-50kg

That's just a little bit of my workout on Mondays (chest day), which can be edited to your liking. The main thing is that you know what you're doing and use proper form and posture. It doesn't matter how light you're lifting, aslong as you're able to do the correct movement then you're fine. Add weights on when you feel like it's getting too easy for you, which causes hypertrophy (enlargement of muscle tissue).

IMPORTANT!!! Make sure you're getting enough calories or else your body will go into starvation mode and break down fat to help recover. If you need a good diet or workout then just PM me for more info. Good luck, and lift heavy.

@Idiots: No, I didn't get anything from Google. I train 3 times a week and weigh 100kg at 17 years old. I know my shit, not trying to boast just helping a brother out.

Won't it be good since the metabolism rate will slow down drastically? I know it does uses up some of the fat but I think it's best if you eat large meals in long intervals to turn your body into starvation mode.

When your eat, eat as much as you can then wait for a long time until your really hungry then eat as much as you can again. Then your body will turn starvation mode and slow your metabolism rate down.

I eat small portions of food but in short intervals to speed up my metabolism rate. If I'm right, being in starvation mode makes the body store most of its energy into fats as quickly as possible for later uses for the body.

@user Mir: Weighing 100 kg at 17 isn't normal. Your muscle mass can't weigh over 15 kgs, so most likely you're fat as well. If not, post a timestamped pic.
All you said was right, however. I am surprised that a KC could write something smart.

@user EpicCrisis: You're correct, but that energy that it stores all turns into fat, which is also why a lot of people have fat only in certain places.

@user palomino: I just finished bulking, which is gaining as much muscle and a bit of fat in a period of time, which allows you to achieve maximum muscle growth at a low % of BF. I'm just about to start my cut, I plan on cutting down to ~80 by November. I fucked up on this bulk though lol, I usually max it at 90-95kg but went over by 5kg which is pretty bad. Oh by the way, I live in Australia just incase you're thinking "wtf, why is this guy bulking in Summer?", I'm not.

@user Mir: I actually hit the gym during the summer, it's summer here right now, so I have a lot of free time on my hands. I consulted one dude and he said that I should eat everything. My diet is basically eating everything. And a lot of it. So I am fine with that lol.

I used to eat everything aswell, whatever my mum cooked was what I would eat. I'm Lebanese though, so mum cooks chicken, rice, salads, etc all the time therefore I've got no need to worry about my protein, fat & carbs intake. I eat ~3500 calories p/day when I'm bulking and ~2200 when cutting.

I can't wait for summer, going to go hard out on the weights. My cousin's opening up a Pizza Bar in the beginning of next year though so inb4 I bulk on pizza lol.

@Everyone: What are your lifts?
