A few additional bug reports:

- Squeezing honeycomb into honey and beeswax does not return player to inventory menu unlike most other crafting operations
- Using knife to craft cornseed shows name of item as 'C0rnseed'
- Placing flour in hand and left-clicking at a water source such as a filled bucket does not consume water from the bucket when creating dough
- At cooking level 6 drinking milk also reduces hunger

Hey man, thanks for all you do! Don't have the time right now to play the final version of the mod but I'm looking forward to it It's good to see that there is still a community for this game and great mods are developed like this one even after all these years

Cheers,
Ben

Heya Ben good to see ya! Thank you!

To All,
Here is what i got so far for next update:

√The big arched "cover" rock will be spawned under the starting control script at the start of a new map. Meaning there will be less of them and spawn in low numbers according to map size.(complete)
√The skyboxes showing the box lines fixed. When I modified the image files for the new skyboxes, it put lines in the old boxes. Fixed.(complete)
√Pressing SHIFT to toggle walk/run greatly improved. I found a way (in script) to practically eliminate the lag and character warp.(complete)
√The rats loot was changed from small white meat to small red meat. Food balance.(complete)
√The bug on changeday update spawning shells, starfish, branches in a pile, fixed.(complete)
√Dusk and dawn daylight adjustment. Making it lighter outside when the sun is still at the horizon line.(complete)
√Nighttime is a "hint" lighter from the moonshine.(complete)
√Bat speed decreased a tiny bit more than prior update.(complete)
√New terrain texture adding visual improvements to the environment.(complete)
√Corn is now referred to as Maize. All corn items are maize items now, for scripting reasons as the word "corn" in script causes an error.(complete)
×Rat event- rats will target your storage and loot some food types.(in progress)
×Rat Trap- a small basic deadfall using 1 rock, 5 branches, and bait. (in progress)

You will also have an Official Survival Rating menu now when you die. With the option to save it!

Hi JasJack67, I've been enjoying this game a lot, however there's an obvious bug I didn't see people mentioning, I am curious if it's just me. If I stay up late past midnight (after the 'update' message), and then sleep, when I wake up I'd not be able to move at all. Plus, if something is cooking before I went to sleep, on waking up the food won't be ready. As if the clock has stopped or something.

This repros every time. In previous versions (I think Sep 2016 version), a workaround was to press 'shift' (to run) and then I'll be able to move again.

However in the latest version (May-28 2017) this trick stopped working. I didn't find any other workaround. Saving/reloading won't fix it. So now it's necessary to avoid staying up past midnight, because otherwise a reload of an earlier save is the only fix.

JDL,
Hey ty for the reports. 1)not bug is achievement so they do that. 2) √ fixed. 3) noted. 4) not bug- as u advance skills you get bonuses of the like.

ty again!

XJ,
Hmm, that is very odd, and do not have an explanation. Nobody has reported such a bug...if you used "debug" to "give" items, you may have broken a script. Try this new update and transfer your save...should fix it's self. Let me know. If it was an older save it may not have been compatible after all? idk.

. . . And thank you for checking out the mod, hope you make it through the first winter. Let me know how it goes, as the game can get deep if you train wolfdog and form a tribe and utilize them. Wolfdog can track and hunt. The worker can fish and cook, and warriors can defend and attack targets. (see: Diary tabs for details.) The events progress as you live longer. Hope to get the end game "escaping" system done asap. That will give the player a goal besides the currents.

good luck!

Ok so it's just me then. How very strange. I didn't use any 'debugging' (didn't know it existed). It's also a brand new start of the game (it repros for any new game).

I'll give the latest version a try.

edit - I happily report that the bug seems gone with the latest version.

Also want to report a minor bug: when pressing E on a planting stake in ground without any seed on hand, the stake disappears without returning back to inventory. I tried it on no.1 flowering stake, I didn't try others.

Thanks for fixing the bugs. Just want to report a few more things
1. Goldenseal, when dropped on the ground, shown as a white blob
2. the crop's (for example corn) visual doesn't indicate drought level properly after a save/reload. So if a crop looked black before save, it'll look (deceivingly) freshly watered after a reload. It seems it's only a visual glitch, the crop still dies the next day.
3. I saw starfish spawning inland under a tree, far far away from beach
4. I always put 10 charcoals in the kiln and most times it's sufficient, but sometimes not. When it's not the kiln will glow red indefinitely. But if I add another 5 charcoals and light it up, it immediately starts to glow green. It looks like a bug.

ty again for the reports XJ!

1) You might have dropped salt or flour or something on top, or instead. I tested this and when I drop goldenseal it is a golden seal plant model.

2)
FIXED
When you load a save your crops will keep there water color status (complete)

3) Since the terrain was lowered on new maps, a few updates ago, where ever there is low terrain a clam, shell, starfish or Reed Plant can also spawn. So, not a bug but intended.

4)
FIXED
When the kiln runs out of fuel it will stop glowing red all together. If it's hardening process is complete, then it will continue to glow green.(complete)

ty much for the reports!

Some questions and some random thoughts.

When I try to build the water trough I couldn't rotate it like other structures. Is it by design or a bug?

Also is the wolf dog a friendly unit like the workers? I couldn't find it in the map. Or was it part of a wolf event? I got attacked by two wolves and tried to feed them raw meat - but first I couldn't throw meat, and pressing 'E' on wolf with meat in hand doesn't seem to do anything, and dropping meat on the ground also doesn't seem to do anything. The wolves just continued attacking me.

I like the body temperature feature - it certainly adds fun challenges in the summer.

The random food spoiling is a bit annoying tbh - if it'd be based on the age of the food I think it'd make much more sense. And perhaps the food should become stale before become spoiled, and eating stale food might have a chance to cause stomach trouble. perhaps temperature should also affect how fast food spoils.

The bone pile - could it be made to disappear after it is completely looted? When two or more bone piles are on top of each other (result of battling bats for example), it's difficult to loot the bottom ones. But if bone piles disappear after looting, then player can get to all loots one by one.

The health recovery bonus from a bed is the same regardless how long I sleep. That is exploitable - instead of sleeping for 9 hours straight one could sleep 3x3 hours, getting 3x bonus from bed.

There is a mushroom recipe that only accepts small (or big?) mushrooms. It'd be nice to accept all types of edible mushrooms.

Again thanks for the awesome mod!

Hi XJ,
Good thoughts!

FIXED
I fixed the Water Trough so it now be rotated with the mouse wheel like the other buildings.

Wolfdog is only seen during the wolf event, and he is a BROWN colored wolf. . . not the black ones. If you see em then throw the raw meat on the ground fairly near him he will eat it. He will start glowing when you can E button him him to take ownership.

BT-note: you can "use" a bottle of water on yourself to make you "wet" lowering your BT gradually. Also drinking liquids like water or apple juice will alleviate high BT with immediate effects. Also movement effects BT, standing still can lower it slowly. . .and more-so standing still while in the deep enough water lowers it faster. This all is opposite for winter. . .hot coffee or alcohol will bring UP your temp, and ofcoarse fire will or RUNNING! (today i also just made the wooden house and greenhouse able to warm your BT up when in it AND the door is closed ofcoarse.)

You can destroy the bone pile by hitting it and the loot it holds will appear on the ground. So if they get stacked just hit the one you can hit and destroy it, then collect the loot. Just be careful not to hit the loot and destroy it too when they appear.

I will check the bed health recovery cuz that shouldn't be. . . might need a tweak. ty.

Yeah i been meaning to make the mushroom recipes more diverse, currently the brown mushrooms OR big mushrooms can be used. (see diary Food Crafting tab)

You are welcome for the mod, glad your enjoying it! Thank you for your recent reports and suggestions, will keep in mind as I finish up this mod.

edit: XJ you was right about the beds being exploitable.
FIXED
I have fixed that so if you sleep less time the bed is less effective.

Hello!

I was playing Stranded II many years ago, now I would like to try this modification. Indeed game in unplayable for me, every 2 seconds my game is getting massive fps drop (~2 sec).
It is possible to fix this or just optimization (Blitz 3D engine?) is not that good? Medium map, default settings.

Laptop:

- Nvidia GeForce 840M
- 8GB RAM
- InteCore i7 4th gen 4510U

Thank you!

A New Update Is Now Posted 77.32MB

Download from the top of page 1 or any of my signatures. Delete your old shortcuts and folders to save space.

Change Log:
√When sleeping if a bed is present, the regained health will now coincide with the length of time you chose to sleep.(complete)
√More script optimization reducing even more lag spikes.(complete)
√The modified terrain texture in winter was a little too dark this past update so I fixed that texture so it looks more like snow in winter season.(complete)
√I fixed the Water Trough so when building it, it can now be rotated with the mouse wheel like the other buildings.(complete)
√ When you are in the temperature controlled building with the door closed, your Body Temp will now have .02 added if in a House, or .03 added in greenhouse. . .per check.(complete)
√ When you load a save your crops will keep there "watered" color status (lightness, darkness). They no longer default to "watered" color light. (complete)
√ When the kiln runs out of fuel it will stop glowing red all together. If it's hardening process is complete, then it will continue to glow green.(complete)
√When pressing E on a flower stake in ground without any seed in hand, the stake disappears without returning back to inventory. Fixed,(complete)

Saves are compatible: transfer your "save" from the "saves" folder to the new "saves" folder to continue your current map.

Hi Tochotto,
You can try this new version as I have several optimized tweaks that may cure the issue you are having. If it still runs poorly try clicking on the TheSurvivalist-win.bat file to start the mod up. It is located in the main game folder also. It runs in a fullscreen window but you will have to set your monitors native resolution in OPTIONS.

old Winter time and a few issues to report

XJ

Quote
It seems like a bug to me. First day in Winter, I have a full snowsuit on, in a wooden house with door closed (and it's glowing red), yet my BT still drops consistently and I got hypothermia. The temperature is around 31F.

(Edit: just saw the new update change log - it seems this bug was fixed. Thanks!)

Edit 2: using this to report a few more issues:
1. when standing on a rock and attacking animals with a bow, the hitbox is strangely small - even for an animal like wolf or bear, aiming the big body doesn't really get hit often from that angle.
2. the big heal herb has its description saying "+4 hunger" while it should be "-4 hunger" instead
3. The female worker does not eat cooked meat in inventory and insist on starving instead. She only eats tomatos and berries. Is it by design?
4. The max skill level (=1000). It's a bit of let down that there is no associated benefits for reaching max skill level. Would it be more interesting to have each max skill level to give some little bonus? I am thinking for example, max cooking -> no more burnt food; max pottery -> pans doesn't break; etc. Perhaps that is too much? I guess the game was already much easier as it progressed to that late stage, but winter is pretty boring anyway...

hi XJ,
1)
FIXED
I increase the hitbox on the event animals, it was kinda smaller than other animals yes.

2)
FIXED
heal herb stat

3) Intended, in her description it tells you the worker is a vegetarian, and the warriors are meat eaters.

4)Yes this will be addressed before I release the final version. Considering making the end game "clues" (clue direction north, south, east, west) to escape the island be the 1000 stat reward. IDK yet.

Hi.
Started the game after last update. One thing that I couldnt find is the chicken coop? I even tried in easy mode and cheats, but couldnt find how to unlock it. Even cooking/farming skill didnt do the job...

Also tried to outrun snake/eagle... Didnt work. I get why the natives dont let go, but could there be perhaps some max limit for animals movement-not lions/raptors? Why would a scorpion chase you 5km....

Hi Tix...

Hey ya know it just never dawned on me to limit the range a snake, scorpion & eagle would pursue you. That is a very good observation and I will definitely look at the script and see if I can throw that in next update. I think I will include the "bats" too, so many of them spawn in the event. I could make them "randomly" "flee the player" which in script is only for about 3 seconds they flee away from you instead of attacking you. It's been the only event I actually hate!

Thank you...it's the little things that makes this mod what it has become...even I still love playing it. A lot of it coming from posts like yours. Thanks!

The hardest trick for me to enjoy the mod so much still has been:

Trying to script it so when I start a new game... being that I scripted it, I would not have an advantage and left with no "learning curve". That's been my challenge. It is also a big part why I have appreciated all of your guys opinions, bug finds, and concepts!
