Hello everyone, I have a little problem so I am asking for some help here. I am running Windows Vista on a Dell Inspiron 1720.

The problem is that it seems like I cannot uninstall Java 7 Update 7 from Oracle. I went to my control panel, found it and wanted to delete it, however it always is abruptly aborted just when it is close to finished. So I opened the task manager and tried it again.

While uninstalling, a second msiexec.exe, following the same path as the first, is opened. At the end of the desinstallation however, most of the time a process named msi*****.tmp (the hexadecimals behind it vary from time to time I try to uninstall it) with the following description: FIU, is opened during that moment and quickly closes again. It doesn't seem to have any path. In a small percentage of cases, there is a third msiexec.exe opened shortly. Besides, there seems to be no real java-file for the program on my computer.

Meanwhile, I cannot use Java, nor can I download a higher version of Java.

Any suggestions? I welcome all kinds of help.

It's not really the update that is not working, but it is the uninstalling that isn't. I also get no message after it failed to uninstall, it's only that suddenly, the uninstallation window closes and I get no other notice. The program is still in my list, however.

Anyway, I'll try total uninstall and post my results later in here.

Edit: It worked, thanks a lot, EP!

This is a program dedicated to uninstalling java.
F.Y.I. it is generally a good idea to disable java plugins for the browser, since severe exploits exist in the java applets. Visiting a website with a java applet might install backdoors and virusses on your pc. Note that Java is something completely different from JavaScript.
