Since everyone's announcing their projects in one way or another, I'm going to go on and do so as well.

It's a project I've been working for a while (there's been long pauses). It is a 2 dimensional top-down (woooah) space RPG, akin to my Space RPG mod, basically a blend of Freelancer, the X series, Evochron Mercenary, Tachyon: The Fringe et al.

At the moment it's strictly multiplayer, but I'm not excluding the possibility of having a singleplayer mode and syncing the local account with the remote ones.

The game is also [going to be] extremely moddable - all items (commodities, equipment), ships etc. are configurable. It also supports server side and client side scripting as of recently.

It's not nearly done, but I'm working on it. More detailed rundowns of updates to the game will be posted on my blog, so check on it from time to time.

Since the game is at such an early stage I'm gladly accepting suggestions and I will try to implement the good ones to the best of my ability. I'm also open to feedback and criticism, but bear in mind the fact that Cosmic Frontiers is in early stages of development.

(Exploding heads are hopefully going to be a thing, DC)

Yes, it will be a standalone game. Cross-platform as well - Windows and Linux are already supported.

Thank you for your feedback, everyone, I appreciate it.

I will probably post only the most major updates here, but detailed descriptions of new features will be posted on my blog. You are more than welcome to comment there.

Also, you can follow this link and comment with your suggestions and ideas. I will take into account all of them, and everyone whose ideas are accepted will be credited appropriately. Thank you again.

EDIT:
Actually, there's a way you can help directly. I'm in need of decent artists right now to draw ships for Cosmic Frontiers. If you're decent at pixel art and willing to help - I'd appreciate it a lot.

• 32x32 - fighters, interceptors, shuttles - small ships
• 64x64 - corvettes, bombers - medium-sized ships
• 128x128 - frigates, cruisers - larger ships
• bigger - battleships, dreadnoughts - large ships (since there is no definite size you needn't draw this category if you don't want to)

Those are general guidelines - you may draw ships in other sizes if you feel it is necessary, and the sizes may be not powers of two or divisible by two.

Leave spots for turrets (about 8x8 for small ships, 16x16 for the large ones) and perhaps draw the turrets themselves if you feel they need to match the ship somehow, but the turrets need to be separate from the ship image.

You can draw ships as single units, or you can draw a series of ships that resemble each other in colour and, perhaps, general architecture. That is up to you.

Also, if you think your ship should be animated, you can draw a sprite sheet and let me know the format (size of one frame). It'll be animated in-game.
