Found some sources that shows Valve has filed a trademark for HL3 in Europe. Let's all hope that it's not another shitty internet bogus and that Valve is seriously about it.

This doesn't mean much in my opinion. They can file a trademark just for the future. It doesn't mean that they are really developing HL3 at the moment or that they are planning to release it soon or anything.

I actually doubt that they are going to release a HL3 soon. They seem to prefer doing their Steam OS / console stuff.

Well... either that or HL3 will be a super secret release title for Steam Box consoles (they would be really good at keeping a secret in that case...)

I actually thought they'd announce Half-Life 3 on the Living Room page in the Steam Store. They said they would announce something big, but it was just an ugly controller :c .

It all starts with (I think) and ends in cr*p... for the love of god can't people have some patience? They will release Episode 3/Half-Life 3 when the time comes. BTW - DC is correct, they are currently working on their own Operating System - something like half a PC half a console... I might be wrong though. Even if they did some kind of hints, they would be wise to wink carefully.

@ Night Till Death: Well, I am waiting patiently until it will be released. I'm just glad that it's been confirmed after all these years.

However, I hope it will be a game, not a movie since Valve agreed to work with J.J. Abrams to create a HL or Portal movie. I've also been hearing rumors that HL3 will be a movie, and I hope that's not true.

Edit: Maybe the first game that will be released on Steam Box is either L4D3 or HL3.

But it still isn't confirmed yet. They just trade marked it, like DC said, that doesn't mean that they are working on it. Once Valve actually announces "Half-Life 3 is now in development" or something like that, then you can be to 100% sure that it's confirmed.



Steam Box is like a PC. It will run Steam, and thus probably most Steam games. Or at least most Linux games, since SteamOS is based on Linux.

Oh yeah and btw, it's not actually called "Steam Box". Valve's fans called it like that before it was announced.

@ theunrealone: Not really. CS:GO uses the modified Source engine (as well as L4D1/2). Valve is currently developing Source 2 and guess they're going to use it for their future games.

@ Seekay: So all the games in Steam are already compatible with Steam Machine?

source engine two, how cool! And the modified source engine games suck, for my netbook, who low graphic and the source games it not a problem......

@ DevGru: Don't know, maybe. Most games on Steam are designed for Windows, and SteamOS is based on Linux. We'll just wait until Valve releases for information.

Well, assuming that L4D3 is on Source2, we might see Half-Life 3 also, if they do what they did with Half-Life 2. (Released the Source Engine with Counter-Strike: Source as a "test run" for the Engine, iron bugs out then released Half-Life 2.)

Not caring about HL3, just want dat rumoured L4D3 on the new Source2 engine.

Im too happy with that comfirmation,one of the objectives of my life is play that game,but I think it will only be released in the year 3000 hehehehe!
