I've been recently playing this pretty awesome open-world zombie survival game called State of Decay and I thought I would share it with you guys.

I did a review about it on my blog, check it out:

After reading that review, what's your thoughts on this game? Have you ever played it? Any tips, tricks, funny glitches and stuff?

Check out george Romero's mod for the game, makes it even better.

Here's the link for those who are interested in the mod: http://www.moddb.com/games/state-of-decay/downloads/george-romero-mod-t11-minor-fixes

I'll definitely try it out when I either get so tired of the game itself or finish the main story. By the time I finish the story, I'll try to get my hands on the Breakdown DLC, its sandbox mode looks promising.

I probably played very first release, maybe things changed now I don't know. When I played it, you couldn't even change keys to move etc. also had some problems with resolution as far as I remember.

Actually you just made me notice that you can't really change controls in-game, only externally, but that doesn't bother me much. Although I always dislike default controls in games (I have an habit of jumping with CTRL, crouching with ALT and using objects with SPACEBAR), I got used pretty quickly to the default scheme.

After intense playing, it gets pretty obvious the game is kinda "new" to the PC scene. No major bugs that ruined the gameplay, but the car driving needs lots of improvements, feels like I'm driving bumper cars over zombies and not actual cars.
Besides a graphical glitch here and there, one thing truly annoyed me: the character voices. Did Undead Labs (creators of the game) run out of voice actors? It just seems some characters have the same voice actor and it gets a bit annoying...

But leaving all that aside, as no game is perfect, I'm really liking State of Decay so far and I think a few updates to it will only do good.

I just remembered that it would be so cool if this game had multiplayer... various players unite in different communities and fight each other for supplies and also killing zombies. Forming enemies and alliance... ah yeah, now that would be a nice seller. But that won't happen until they properly fix the current game, as I already pointed out, it seems like I'm playing a near-Final Beta and not the full game itself. *I still like the game, though.
