I need help installing CS2D on my computer which is running Ubuntu 9.04. I have followed all the instructions which were to download the linux client as well as the windows client (zip). Then I had to extract all the files to one folder (which I did). I already have libstdc++5 (better version of it: libstdc++6). I did it all and I try to run CounterStrike2D but an error pops up:

"CounterStrike2D cannot be opened"

No application suitable for automatic installation is available for handling this kind of file.

--------

What do I do? I really want to play!

Yes, I started the Linux version. There are two start files:

"CounterStrike2D" which came with the Linux package and

"CounterStrike2D.exe" which came with the Windows package.

I started the one without an extension (the linux version)

*NOTE* This works on PCLinuxOS, i didnt used this on Ubuntu. anyways, try. maybe it will work

First do this:
open your kosole, or any terminal program.

in terminal program type in:

1
cd ./Desktop/YOURCS2DFOLDER
if you have cs2d folder on your desktop

replace "yourcs2dfolder" with cs2d folder name

then if error pops up: "No such file or directory"
then you have done it wrong

alternately if its ok, then type this:

1
./CounterStrike2D -win

if it pops up a window with CS2D it works. i dont know, but try with and without "-win" and see if it works

It works in the windowed mode command! I think you should include this in Linux troubleshooting or something because a few others also face this problem. Thanks!

that's what I was trying to do now. Sorry, I'm new to Linux (M$ failed me by giving me a BSOD error in Vista)

EDIT: I found it. I love Linux! Windows really makes me feel like an idiot, even though I am using a very simple version of Linux (Ubuntu)
