I've made lots of maps, and there not just something I wiped up randomly. I took thought, planning, time and sweat into my maps, but I'm afraid to release them becuase of a couple of reasons...

I always liked original things, like the old C&c, oreos, and games like counterstrike.

I've play cs2d for some time now and noticed many great maps get completely edited and or stolen. People takeing credit for some 1 else's hard work angers me even if it has nothing to do with me. "How would you feel if you drew some wonderful masterpeice, and some 1 edits it and claims they have made it and or doesn't even credit you, when all they did was add a couple of things.
I'll give some examples: StarsMaxprison, Happytown, and Zm_Blackmesa each have been edited/stolen (credited to some 1 whos not the author) more then 5 times.

So I asked myself can I copyright my map? I look into my countries copyright laws but I'm not a 100% sure if I could. So then I asked myself are their ways to "prevent/stop" any 1 from being able to editted my maps? I've also made some maps specificly made for my clan's and my server only. Now I am here asking you are there? ways to ensure my credit, and protect my maps?

Well.. You could make watermarks and stuff related to you or your account name... And you can post your map on the map section adding below you may not use this map on your server.

Or password protect your map.

You can do lots of things.

√ Do a trigger_start -> sv_msg as far as you can, maybe 500 tiles away from the map with stuff like this: "Map made by *author*. | Do NOT edit. | Enjoy! ^^".
But I'm not saying it's impossible to find, but rarely people can find.
√ You can, with tiles, draw your name outside the map.
√ Post in Unreal Software.
So if someone steals it you could report it here and in someone posts without your authorization and with edits you can talk to any Mod or even to Admin, DC, to delete it.
√ Use it frequently on YOUR server.
I'm not saying that you others can use the map in their servers, it's to claim that it's Your Server-Your Maq. Do stuff in serverinfo.txt like "All maps here have been maid my *author*" or a list of maps, that you can include in mapchage.
√ Make a safe, secure and important briefing.
Coloured briefings with strong colours like RED in warning zones are create. You'll need to use ©RRRBBBGGG. If you need any help with it, PM me or contact. Because not all types of RBG work.

• Although it's still possible to steal it (but not much), with that stuff you could make your map even more safer. Hope I helped!

what's the "snowy" protection?

plant a trigger_start : type in th trigger field:snow
then make one gen_weather and put as effect snow.
thant name the gen-weather to "snow"
copy it and insert it many times.
save the map now quick and close.

This has been talked out here so many times that I don`t even want to count.

It`s impossible to make 100% sure secure for these maps :p

Yeap. But with correct security steps lke I said could prevent form straling.

Some versions ago I was a total noob, I didn't had any security measures. So a CC noob stole my fy_hadguns and put fy_handguns_cc. Idiot... I think it was fy_ or cs_. Alhough it was one of my first maps it turned popular in a short period of time. And another noob stole it and didn't even change name...
That was in b0.1.0.7 or b0.1.0.8 I think.
Now I'm going to make a remake @ b0.1.1.5.
So CC noob, if you're reading this: fu and create your wn maps!

I'm not gonna secure my maps besides that is a waste of time. Players/people should be real and know who created the maps. Mapper's who rework a map should give credits to original author if the map has been re-edited/re-worked.

Although the tons of Gen_Weather entities with snow is quite effective for keeping away map stealers, nice idea by Hitsugaya who put that on one of his RPG maps. CS2D crashes when memory usage is too excessive caused by the Gen_Weather entities.

You call yourself "we"?

Wow then i must be "they".

Protecting maps is useless.

You can encrypt/protect Warcraft 3 maps but people can still decrypt it. Because nothing is 100% secure.

Oh god.. not again please. We discussed that already.

It's a honor when someone steals your map. It means that it is good. Of course it's wrong when he removes your name from the briefing or even replaces it with his own name but you shouldn't take that too serious. Just think "yeah my map is that good that others wish that they made it".

The most important thing is that YOU know that it is your map. Don't care about those fags who steal. If you can't ignore them: Sorry! Stop making maps for this game! Yeah. It's that easy. And yes: It's the ONLY working solution! Stupid protections can be hacked/disabled easily and I'm not wasting my time with that.

Your are wrong, the snowy protection is unbreakable! stealer must at 3 sec found and delete ALL gen_weather (~15-30 thing)and save the map. i dont have seen guy who can do it, because its impossible break snowy protection

Alright, thanks to 'New Rex' (Can't remember what to call you.)

Anyways another thing you can do.

1. Create a black sprite, waaaay out of the map.
2. Make the Dimensions extremely large (e.g. 150000x 1500000)
3. Create a trigger_start and disable it.

The snowy map protection is good too, but the black env_sprites is probably easier.

(Btw, fog and smog work as well as rain and stuff)
