Pro, until you came, nobody really complained about the grenade timer. All the "Pro's" in cs2d, to which you do not belong, think it's fine right now.
You seem like a player who hasn't played since 0104 and starts complaining about things because they are not the way they used to be.
I remember when max was just released, SOO many people complained about the diagonal walk bug, now, you hear nobody about it. It's just something you'll have to adjust to.

Troll somewhere else, thanks.

I disagree, I've been playing this game since 0.1.0.1 right after CS2D came back online and I absolutely despise the new grenades. On top of that, I do still feel that the diagonal bug should be reimplemented, even if it's not going to be accepted. Does that make me any more of a noob?

For those of you wondering, it's incredibly difficult to master the grenade techniques in pre-max cs2d. The level of coordination required is much more exhausting than those of simple shooting. Nowadays, anyone can kill with a grenade. No one needs to 'master' anything beyond pointing at the specific spot on the map, and the grenade has become a favorite of beginners who just loves to bombard rather then shoot. 95% of the time the grenade will do more damage then those from other weapons requiring a higher level of coordination.

Beautifully said, and I fully agree.
I couldn't of said it any better.

Great to see you guys like to fuck eachother in the butt.
I'm playing cs2d at a competitive high level right now.
It requires great skills to control the nades right now, just like it did in 0104.

I'm reading pointless flame here. Stop that. Nobody cares how long you play. Nobody cares how pro or low you are. Nobody cares. Nobody. This thread can be used for discussions about the grenade timer but not for stupid flame wars. It's a shame that it's obviously not possible to discuss without retarded offenses.

Everyone who continues flame here (or answers flame posts / comments flame posts) will be punished with a ban. this is my only warning. I can't tolerate that crap.

@LilCoder - Does it really matter which level you're playing on? Would that necessarily validate your point more then if you omit that statement? Would the assertion that I used to be the co-leader of the best NA clan in CS2D make me more credible?

Here's the bottom line, most of us here (including these so called 'pros' that apparently we're not a part of, have agreed on the opinion that the grenade in the current version is overpowered. You have two choices here, continue to assert on the singularity of an extreme opinion (which is perfectly fine, except for the fact that your opinion may not hold any grounds in the end) or make compromises. I would advise that you take the route of compromising. It's still a heated debate for the actual increment of the grenade delay so you might be able to win some of your points back there.

i am agreeing with Leegao and Pro on this one.

grenades are a weapon that noob players do spam. build a couple of supplies and instantly you can nade spam to your hearts content.

personally, i think explosion time is fine for nades

i just think they should be much more inaccurate. the wind catches and moves nades a lot more than it does bullets.

maybe a feature where you hold down fire to 'cook' the nade or control the throwing range would be cool

perhaps having 1/100 dude grenades, and some having varying explosion powers. it would reflect well on real life because each nade is different.

all random thoughts on the nade topic, comment i want more ideas!!

i like the cooking idea to

My thouhts on the idea

•colored arc appears changing color slowly from green to red
•when realesed instead of flying completly straight mabey slowly increase the sprites size then decrease the size back to normal so it looks like it flew in an arc

>but then again increasing the nade timer to be like old cs2d would be good aswell

the good old days

Speaking of grenade delays, IMO, how long you stay flashed for is EXTREMELY annoying. Back in 0104 (And even though I've never been here long enough to be in any of the earlier versions) I remembered that if you got flashed, you didn't stay flashed for like...eternity.

Back on topic:
Also yes, most players from Old-School CS2D thought that the HE is over-powered. I think it is too, compared to 0104.

The grenade delay right now is fine I think *JUST KIDDING*. The best thing you can do is either, make a setting for grenade delays, because this one is controversial.
Btw, Diagonal bug would be GREAT in CS2D. Would put a lot more skill in the game.

well i didnt really understand all of what you said but!

DC could probably change nade for each game type specifically. sure it would b a lot of work, but if it means something to you guys then he probably would.

good luck convincing him tho!

1. In most cases it's impossible to find a solution that is okay for everyone. That's pretty obvious. There are always some people who cry in the end and keep making threads and posts that it sucks.

2. I'm only talking about the timer here. Other values like speed, accuracy or damage are probably not going to be changed and should not be discussed in this thread.

I would like it to be as it is now...

In my opinion, the best thing would be making
the timer (bar/arch/whatever) that shows
the time left until the HE blows up.

aww... sorry this is not going to happen because it's really useless (and would look rather stupid). you have to seek cover as quick as possible when you see a grenade. no need for a visible timer.

oh yeah sure a visible timer so the enemys know how much time left to it blow up! thats perfect! ¬¬'

@topic, yes i agree in making a setting or somthing for the delay, i have a suggestion:

-it could be player setting, where he chooses when his greanade is going to blow, of course make a maximum time like from 1 second up to 3 or 4.5

-server setting, where the server decides when the grenades are going to blow, but the maximum could be a liitle more like 5 or 6, since everyones grenades are going to blow at the same time

and for those who think that HEs are overpowered, they arent, they are just easier to use, in old cs2d the distance couldnt be adjusted, it was always like 6 squares or something

sorry i know this is only for grenade delay stuff, but FBs could have a little blur effect (something like when you wake up in the first island on stranded) and making you deaf fo two seconds like in CS:S

and once again: this thread is not for any suggestions. it's just about the time for the grenade timer.

Well i Should Say That even though Maybe u can Avoid it or not it is still like lee said Overpowered. So i think there are more like 2 options. 1. Make The HE less damage. or 2. Increase the Explosion timer of the HE, wich Seen better

think it should (among other things) be increased. The problem with the grenade is being on the receiving end of the grenade.
Current CS2d 'nade mechanics aren't very realistic. A real grenade (and in cs) would fly to its target faster and go off after sitting on the ground for a tad.
Some players take advatage of cs2d's slow moving but almost instant detonating grenade to throw a grenade, guns ablazing, while chasiing after or sometimes PASSING the grenade. Causing the throwing player to be pretty invincible at close range during the explosion. In a nutshell, its pretty hard to knife-kill a giant ball of fire charging.
I also think that the grenade throw distance should not be based on where the cursor is placed but instead by holding down and letting go of the mouse to build up power, just like in source.
And sorry for including more suggestions than opinions, but if only one thing changes someone will find a way to take advatage of it, like DC said. So the only real way to solve a problem like this might be to start from scratch and re-evaluate the mechanics of the gameplay.
