WTF no load "sys" program error =(

I wouldn't have been able to create all the new screenshots if it didn't work. Could you be a little more descriptive about what went wrong and where?

Could other people please confirm that this application works.

I can't. I downloaded .NET 3.5, but it still isn't working.
It shows error about some "JIT", if I click continue, it shows only 2 .inf files about items, no combinations, nothing at all.

Could you message me a snapshot please and maybe a copy of the mod that made it fail? If it's a script error that I haven't accounted for, I can run it through my debugger and fix it.

I should also mention that there has been extensive modifications to the settings system since earlier releases so check if deleting the setting file works. It will automatically be rebuilt on your next load.

Request to Stranded II players: As this project is getting much closer to a stable release state, I will need people to help me test this software and find bugs in the script reading, so please message me with any problems you have in getting this program to run and I will work with everyone on a case-by-case basis to remove any bugs by the first stable release. I want this software to be as good as you want it to be.

.Net is needed, yes, but make sure you have .Net 3.5 installed. It will not work with older or newer versions.
You have to be a little bit more descriptive about your problem.
What "error" is shown? Can you give me a screen shot?
What operating system are you running?
Where did it crash? Did it crash when you loaded a mod or when the application was meant to start? If it crashed when you loaded the mod, can you send me a copy of the mod so I can run it through my debugger?

Update: I've spent this day working on script reading errors and bug fixes. Things like lines ending in ';' are accounted for, file paths using '/' instead of '\' are rectified etc. Check the first post for the release.

Also, jumping to combinations and buildings from datacells has been coded.

erm.... newer version of .NET?
isnt it made to 3.5

Yes, this is made for .Net 3.5

Vibhor has written
and newer versions will work as the net framework installs older versions too

Not always. For example, if you install .Net 4.0 beta, then it will only install that version, it will not download and install all the predecessors. However, if you install .Net 3.5, it will install .Net 2.0 and 3.0 if you chose them.

Notice: If you would like to contact me directly though messenger, I have created an account with yahoo (as most messengers are cross-protocol-compatible now) specifically for this project which will be left online 24/7 and monitored as much as I possibly can. Status messages will let you know if I'm away.

Add "siimodviewer <at> yahoo <dot> co <dot> uk" as a buddy and talk over your problems with me.

I would prefer not to do this, but I feel this project needs more end-user input and quick. I only have a selected number of mods to test against (about 10) and I usually only release after I have tested the app against these, but I may have missed something different about other mods.

I'm going to keep track of ongoing bug fixes for the next release, so you can see what might be causing your crashes now.

Updated in the next release:
-Badly formed scale tags (E.g "scale=o.3" as I found in one mod) would crash the app. Now, it will post in the error report and be processed as if the scale was "1" for all dimensions.
- In combination file reading, if the end of file check fired off an error without assigning an ID to the combination, this would crash. Now, the ID is assigned before the error is displayed, making it display correctly.
- If a file had multiple "script=end" definitions, this would be error reported as not having a "script=start" definition. Now it will inform you of the duplicates and read the script from "script=start" to the first "script=end".
-If the last used mod was a path for a folder that no longer existed, the app would ask for a mod folder even if it had other recent mods that did exist. Now it will try all last used mods for a mod to load.
-Some code optimisation for loading speeds.
-Extended building info

Update: I've been working on scripting errors and bugfixes all day. I've ran this version through 19 different mods and all came through ok, reporting errors in the scripts correctly on the way.

Released: SIIMV 10-02-24 03-25

This should clear up most of the loading issues.

Okay here is the screenshots for the error .plzzz help
my pc configuration :-

This error tells me you haven't got the correct version of .Net installed... On the first post of this page is a web install for the latest version of Microsoft .Net 3.5 (I should also mention that you need the SP1 <service pack 1> for 3.5, but this should be installed when you install .Net 3.5. If it hasn't, then Automatic Updates will request to install the service pack.)

However, some people have experienced this error when installing XP SP3 and NVidia 8 drivers, but the most common cause for that error is not having the correct version of .Net. Like I said, make sure there's an entry in add/remove programs named "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1" If yu have all this and it's still not working, your .Net installation may be damaged. You could try repair by launching the uninstaller and choosing repair instead of remove.

Other people with this error: (These sites are for reference. I wouldn't recommend any of their software.)

Update to mod viewer: I'm trying something new with the reading of the text files, specifying the application use the windows (1252) western european code page for reading text files if it can't be detected by byte-order markers. Hopefully, this will rectify some mod loading issues.

Released: SIIMV-10-02-27 03-30

Should I abandon this altogether?
I started this a while ago, thinking it would be helpful to players and modders alike, but it seems as though a grand total of 3-5 people have used it since its initial inception. Although I would really like to give something back to the Stranded II community, my confidence about this project is waning and I think that this may have been a massive waste of time. If anyone uses this and would like me to continue development, please let me know soon, or I will simply abandon this project and try to find something more useful to the community to program.

Well, OK. I'm looking to add a units and objects tab and possibly a misc tab with a simple reader for game files, maybe even for editing.

Update: This is a quick update to take into account badly constructed item stacks ("gen=", "req=", "loot="), Corrected a check for script count error checking in item reading.

Released: SIIMV-10-03-13 02-30

Builder, before, you mentioned that you found opening individual item compendiums annoying. I could possibly add a new context menu button to the datagridviews that allows you to open the compendium of selected cells with items attached. This would be available in every grid view. Would that be sufficient for you? (I.E. go into item table, select the items you want to open the compendium for, right click and select "Open Compendium(s)"?

I give you my personal congrats!!!

This project perhaps isn't that good for actually making a mod... even though I could see where I could get used to it easily, I'm just too used to making a mod through normal text...

But it is excellent in figuring out other peoples mods!

Ever had a problem trying to decipher someone's combination's menu? I would completely suggest this, it shows the icons and the item names and everything else you might even remotely need to figure out the combinations for the game! Or if you just simply want ta look and see what they have added or subtracted from the game, then check it out through this program as well!

Either way, it is a true Mod Viewer!!!

I made a built with mono on Gnu/Linux. I didn't try it yet, but hey, it works! ...except showing the pictures. Mayhaps someone (You?) wants to fix this. I currently lack the time to begin another language; perhaps in 2 weeks, when I don't forget it... or you build it for mono only. THAT would be like so totally awesome!

Here is a screenshot.

Here are some errors,

which cause a not building of the stuff, so I can't upload it.

You should write in the 1st post, that the code is included in the download and perhaps go to something like sourceforge or so, to prevent people getting porn by megaupload in their face - in the face! My poor face!

I think I know why this is. I'll look into fixing it.

If I build it for mono only, it may not be completely compatible with windows and being that Stranded II is designed for windows, this would be unacceptable.

Thanks Nice to see it working cross-platform

that's not an error, that's a warning. As you can see, the property is defined, but never used, hence it won't have a problem. You have to tell your compiler to compile regardless warnings. However, by the look of it, that piece of code might not actually be needed. I'll see if I can remove it.

1: I have an app of my own at sourceforge. A C# media player using DirectX as a codec engine. You can find it at http://sourceforge.net/projects/psyplay/ but I have put that project on the backburner. It's still fully functional though.

2: As I have released the app under the GNU GPL v3 license, I must make available in some way or another the source code. The easiest way for me to do this is put it in the main download. That way, you can't tell me you didn't get the code.

3: The application is still in development, hence it's in a forum and not on a site. However, once I have completed the viewer and editor side of things, I will probably shift it to sourceforge.

4: The reason downloading from megaupload is so important is because I'm poor and these applications are made with any spare time that I have for free for you people. I never charge, put in ad-ware or crap like that. I take great time and effort to make sure that this works exactly as intended, working with anyone who has problems or ideas to make this what you want. All I ask in is that you download it from megaupload.

Poor???

A man with your programming skills should be able to make twice minimum wage!

does megaupload give you a small gift for uploading to their site and getting others to download it?

You're damned right. A man of my skill should have a flourishing job, but unfortunately, I look like a thug and sound like Stephen Fry when I speak, making every employer see me as condescending, yet inappropriate, even though I am highly skilled in many things. It's the damned curse of my life. Megaupload give me reward points for people downloading my files. If I get enough I'll be able to pay off bills, keep my internet access going etc...

Yes it is, but who will people trust more, Mono, a linux based development of a cross-platform API or the original creators of that API who also make your OS? .Net is quite commonly pushed as an update for windows users and is much more well know, so the likelihood of people having it is much greater than people having Mono.
