I'm making a modification of the game, that needs several models... Specifically, building models, and perhaps possibly unit models... and also perhaps objects such as trees and etc...

This modification is supposed to be about an alien stranded on an alien world... name is alienation, and since the alien is going to be living in the water... I need some water models...

I know how to make the models with wings 3D but I don't know how to texture them... and I also don't know how to make units...

If someone will tell and explain how to texture a model in wings 3D, or more like... UV map it... then I'll make the models myself. But, if your willing to make the models yourself and texture them, then I will make sure you get credit for them.

Unless someone can help me here... I'm afraid that alienation is doomed to failure...

Thank you,

you use wings 3D? WONDERFULL!
i know how to texture in wings 3D and UV map and stuff i could help you out! Although i cant get transperancy to work, you'll have to find that out, and if you do, shoot me the solution!

@ Soggydoggy

GREAT!!! PM me and we can get talking about how to start this and so forth... I want to complete this mod before school starts for me. (my last year of highschool)

Of course, its all voluntary.

@Vectar,

No, thats not what I meant... I already changed the water texture... it sorta looks like a purple like color. Thanks to the official EXT of stranded 2. Of course, I'll probably make my own water texture though.

What I'm talking about is, underwater building that will float just below the surface like... Underwater defense towers to defend against mean fish, underwater air buildings, underwater storages, underwater vehicles, and etc...

I just made a screenshot of the water and sky and terrain colors... I haven't made many scripts to the game as I need models and so forth to do things with...

I credit the sky and water textures to stranded 2 Ext, even though if they don't allow me to copy their textures I'll make my own.

Wow, and you think THIS is doomed to failure? Building... just look at script of boat building. And models... I can help you with objects!

I'm aware that it will be quite difficult to build diffrent things underwater... but I plan to make the models so they are made to be used underwater... and that will help alot...

Like...

I'll take it, and then set it down UNDER the area where the model is considered under the terrain that your going to build it on...

I still need to do several testing simulations with it to see exactly what goes on... but I'm confident that your froglike alien will actually get stranded!

As for helping with modelling, GREAT!!!

I just remembered thanks to Soggydoggy that I left wings 3D on my real computer... right now I'm on my laptop... and even though I have all the scripting things necessary... I don't have the modeller...

So from help from me with modelling its probably not going to be for another 2 weeks since I'm on "vacation"... Unless someone can pass me wings 3D...

The models won't be anything like the normal trees and so forth in the original stranded 2... they'll probably be more like huge mushrooms and flowers and well... stuff that made from the imagination!

I already have notorium.

And no, building underwater is not impossible...

If you can build above water, then you can build underwater, and since you can build bownets then you should be able to build underwater as well. The models just have to be made so that they are under the level that they normally sit on.

...your mainly going to be living in the water...

I think you must change max oxygen level for player, like you are like dolphin, live underwater, but need oxygen for breath

I already did that, I also changed the exhaust levels, walking on land is more exhausting by far then swimming... on land your mainly going to get around by jumping.

Well... I need lots of underwater flora... Ideas would be, some kind of plant that spikey and once you get too close you'll get hurt... Coral plants, and probably a long spiky thing that moves... no animation required it will move very slowly but at the same time it will shoot little spikes at you...

At least those are ideas to start with...

As for onland... the bang mushroom scaled to a much larger size would be the idea for a tree, only I need tons more varieties then just that...

Edit:

The below is a list of models and what their functions will be for those that wish to help make models, that way they have an easier idea on what to do, this is a SPOILER!

ReEdit:

I was sorta hoping to get in touch with the leader or someone of stranded 2 Extension that can confirm wither I can or cannot use some of their artwork...

Vibhor, you can build a bow net on the water can't you not?

Of course, the bow net floats on the water, so, why can't you just make a model that does not sit on the "floor" of the modeling map.

If you specifically make the model, so that the main part of it extends UNDER the ground, which in this case would be the level of the water. Then it would appear like a floating building. Would it not? If I had my modeller with me I would make a model and prove that it can stay underwater.

Also like the well in stranded 2, if you've played with it in the editor, you can see that a great deal of its bulk extends past the ground, I plan to effectivly cut off the top, and just leave the bottem half which will be floating in the water.

All you have to do is make sure the model doesn NOT sit on the modeling floor, and instead sits under it... this of course means that these models cannot be used for anything but water of course.

@ Psytechnic

Thank you!!! I'll see if I can't find something to do with it!

I already tried it an it worked! I just downloaded wings 3d and it works!

I'm making a small folder for you to test it out yourself on your own comp.

Edit+ I added the folder to the stuff area on the downloads page... Tell me if it doesn't work for some reason.

It's easy to let the player be able to sleep in the water, you just get rid of the restriction script in the Game.ini file.

But there's a good idea, the player can breathe forever underwater but can only stay above water for a few minutes or something.

I don't think you'll be able to sleep in the water... but I am planning on making a "house" that you can just walk up into and then sleep in it...

And no, breathing in the water is limited, but as I have it right now, you can stay underwater for a whole 2 min before having to go back up for air. You swim alot faster though, there is very little exhaustion from swimming, and on land you can breath fine. But it is also much more exhausting to be on land then it is to be in the water. Walking will be exhausting, and you'll mainly move around by jumping on land since it is alot faster then walking, and alot more stamina saving.

As for problems with air, I doubt that there will be many problems with the air... after I test it I might increase the time you can stay underwater to 3 or 4 mins... but your also going to be able to build air traps and so forth like that to make sure you don't have to go up very often...

By the way, what did you think of the box floating,

Maybe that will help you in your own mods.

Edit:

@ Soggy

Yeah, delete the restriction... where!? I already looked, theres a message saying that you can't sleep in the water and everything else, but I don't see the script saying can't sleep below range 0... or something...

If you can edit it GREAT! I want it to be able to sleep in the water but I don't know how to fix it...

As for breathing on land limited and so forth like that... I don't know, its possible that someone with more scripting experience could program that, easily possible... but, I'm just a simple newbie...
