So, I've been playing CC a lot lately, and I really appreciate the custom weapons in that game.

I would like to know whether custom items/weapons may be implemented in the next version of CS2d.

I currently DO script custom functionality into existing weapons, but there's only so much you can change, and I'd like to change some other things (such as spread, RoF, what slot a weapon is in, ammo capacity and maybe add some new weapons?). Also, I would like to add items that are usable/ have special scripted functions, such as a can of soda, a apple, or a Explosives detonator.

Adding weaponsets to CS2d would probably be a lot of work, but I imagine that there could be a checkbox that would say "Use custom weaponset" in the hosting menu.

I assume Item Type IDs could be assigned per weaponset, and link to the lua script, to avoid Item Type ID conflicts.

It would also lead to some mod that sets all the weapons stats to their CS(:S/CZ/1.6) counterparts. An useful MP5? Shotguns with longer range? Awesome.
But again, sadly I don't believe this will happen. The only bad thing would be joining a server that has "UBER LAZOR GUNZ FOR ADMINZZZ" and Childish, stupid weapons.

tbh, you should be able to blacklist servers

and yeah stupid weapons are stupid.

It does not work, because it hasn't been implemented from the beginning. If DC wanted to add this, he had to rewrite the complete code (which is too much work).

moreover it would make it much easier to create hacks which is a huge problem in CS2D (yes, CC actually IS easier to hack - but you normally play it with people you know only)

and of course this would mean to re-write HUGE parts of the whole CS2D game-code because it has not been designed for something that insane. it probably would also cripple most existing Lua scripts which contain weapon/item related stuff.

therefore it is NOT planned to implement something comparable to the CC weapon system in CS2D. it's rather certain that it is not going to happen because of the explained problems.

it is also currently NOT planned to implement a more simple custom weapon system where you just define the gfx/audio files, the weapon type and the weapon attributes like name, damage, weight, ammo, accuracy etc. (however this one WOULD be more likely).
