I've always found these "achievements" features in certain games so dumb,
most games featuring achievements tend to be very annoying. when starting a game you get an achievement, when getting you first kill you get an achievement, when getting a grenade kill you get an achievement, when you get a headshot you get an achievement, achievements are annoying and useless, I don't know why some people like them,
why do you need an icon telling you what you have achieved? it's like they act like your a child and need to say to you what you have done, as if you don't know yourself. what are you going to do with these collection of "achievements"? show them off to your friends?
CS2D and achievements? It can be Lua scripted. if a game does need a achievement feature, atleast don't make it repetetive and annoying like every step and mouseclick you take you get a achievement pop-up.
there will be no achievements. this has been requested before and I already gave reasons contra achievements. again for you:
additional USGN traffic and USGN dependency
may slow down basic USGN features (serverlist)
hackers and cheaters will try to manipulate the achievement system
more people will get cheats in order to get more achievements
it would be easier to realize it if cs2d would be a commercial game (less people would dare to cheat online because they would have to pay for a new account) but that isn't the case.
nevertheless: it's possible to implement (non-global) achievements with Lua.
