my cs2d is running at like 10 fps and one of my cpu cores is at 99% load (i.e. gpu not being used :D)

wine doesn't do much better either

anything i can do?

slightly off-topic:
the linux dedicated server for whatever reason is incredibly faster than the windows version.
linux dedi serv:
1
Current FPS: 50, Buffer (unused cpu time per frame): 19 ms

the dedicated server doesn't render any video output. that's why it is faster even on weak systems and even on systems without video card.

I guess that the client somehow fails to use your video card properly. try updating your video card drivers. (this is not a general problem of cs2d. it runs well for many linux users)

CS2D on Linux, for me is a very debatable topic because of the amount of trouble you get when you upgrade OS's or change OS's. Once you have lidstdc++5 and OpenGL it is normally not that bad. A lot of Linux systems don't even use the graphics card is there! My older laptop which I installed SLiTaz on can't discover the graphics card, I have tried searching all over and couldn't find anything. Infact right now im writing a kernel module to get the darn thing working because I am sick and tired of my proccesor heating to 300 degress and running a tiny 800x600 display ( on a 1024x768 screen ).
But once you get CS2D running it is very enjoyable

I just installed Ubuntu 10.10 and I have no problem with the FPS... (it's even a little higher than when using windows vista on the same laptop - vista = 35, ubuntu = 45). I do have some trouble with my sound though and I haven't tried fullscreen so far.
