So I would like to run 247 dedicated server on my minilaptop (currently typing on it). It doesn't take much electricity, so its cheap. I would like to know bandwith requirements for server. For example, what upspeed/downspeed I need for every 10 players? I'd appreciate help.

I've also noticed that my 8/0.8-1mb will run at least 8 players, but I will get faster one, so if anyone knows about bandwith things, then please help!

E: cmon, anyone? I'd really much like to know.

bandwidth isn't the thing you should be worried about - it's the speed of your connection and your laptop. I can guarantee you that everyone playing on a server hosted on a minilaptop will like like a drunk grasshopper because the computer can't handle it.

//Edit:
As for the bandwidth, you might want to take a look at some server statistics:
http://servers.cs2d.nl/controlpanel/serverstats.php?serverID=1
http://servers.cs2d.nl/controlpanel/serverstats.php?serverID=99

You should scroll down a little to take a look at the average and peak traffic usage.

Sounds like you are assuming that I am going to run a big server with 100 players on it. I was thinking about 8-10 players, with maybe no more than 4-6 playing at time - I believe that this wont require a great computer. My internet connection is 8down / 1 up, I believe. Will propably be raised 10/2 in summer. Any further help appreciated

Minilaptop stufF: (dont know if this helps, im not good with computer stuff)

Even with just a few players online, it'll lag a lot. Only running the dedi process will already be tough for many laptops. Then players and scripts should still be added.

Traffic usage varies a lot and depends on the map resources used. A standard map such as de_dust will require a lot less traffic than e.g. Pre_StraNGeRPMaPName_v0.1 which nobody owns and thus needs to be downloaded.

I still do not think that computer specs will be the problem. I'm not sure, but I think I have run a server on cs2d with similar specs and it worked just fine, nobody lagging too badly, except for those who were far, far away from server location. So, you think my 8/1 will run 8 players?

I was planning on dust/dust2, everyone has those and they are my favorite also

Usage of computer (1 player): 3%.. Or maybe it's usage of processor, I don't know, it is in Task Manager anyways Don't have the system in english..

No answer to original question yet. About how much upspeed would cs2d server need for, lets say, every 10 players.
