Translated with my bad English and http://translate.google.com
I apologize for any translation errors or inaccuracies. If something of writing you do not understand me - write and I'll try to rephrase.

So, on the topic.

I would like to talk about the use of resources in the game - because y modders there are specific issues when creating new maps and servers.
For example I have at this time there were two problems and, accordingly, two proposals for addressing them.

Problems:

1. When creating maps and servers use the standard resources (sounds, sprites), but they are copied by the authors in their convenient folder - which leads to cluttering folders with the resources game.

2. When creating maps, many authors often draw a map of his signature using tiles - apparently they are not familiar with the rules - the signature of the author to be mentioned in the info map.

http://cs2d.com/help_mapping.php?part=3 has written
Your Name In Your Map
Is annyoing. You shouldn't use tiles to write your name/nick and you shouldn't use extra images for that crap.
Use the briefing to show that you made that map! Briefings are txt-files in the maps-folder of CS2D! Simply create a txt-file which has the same name as your map!

Proposal for decision:
1. Create special-topic for verification and create a list of standard resources and otakzhe to function on-line registration for new resources in the list and the possibility to update them in the game editor.
To this list, you want to create a logical folder hierarchy system with resources - both originally made standard.
Also required to reflect the reorganization of the system in use tiles (often the author tiles differ little from the standard).
As an alternative reconciliation and approval of the updated resources as a "standard" can be made using the moderators and the voting.

2. Make editor automatic verification using signatures to file maps and descriptions of the author's name when loading maps, making the author's name and his USGN when creating a new map or update data in the case of editing other people's maps.

This can further help in pointing owners and creators of updated maps and resources.

too complicated.

clever mappers simply put all their stuff in a dedicated folder. I highly recommend to do it that way.

you for example should create a folder in sfx and gfx called "Pagyra" and put all your used resources into that folder. you could also use the name of the map instead (better solution if you do not create many maps with the same resources)

of course we might see the same image or sound several times then but this isn't really a big problem because all these files are rather small and hard disks are pretty large.

I have a notebook and in it a little hard drive.

Folder cluttered with duplicates and folders - example - I played a night on 10 servers - in two folders (gfx, sfx) has created 47 folders with copies of the standard resources (sounds and sprites)
also added a copies of tiles - with the "huge" changes - they have been increased or changed by 1-2 tile

so size of the game folder, increased by 17 mb

Why not make the rules of hierarchy in the storage resources?

I have a super simple solution to this:
Don't play on RP servers! They use a helluva lot of gfx and sfx ( to a point no longer neccisary, usually ) and quite often make different tilesets that are just smaller versions of the cs2dnorm.bmp one.

Unfortunately the problem is not so simple ... even here in the archive file there are many such maps and scripts - they duplicate standard resources in its folders

For example
In my maps all references to the resources listed in a logical folder hierarchy
All import my sprites could simply find and use by using this hierarchy, and logic.

even notebooks have enough space for this. many games need several gb of space. it's hard to have a cs2d folder which reaches the 1 gb mark. 100% acceptable, no need for super complicated attempts to keep it cleaner.

in most cases the problems are caused by scripters/mappers/hosters who simply don't care. blame them and don't load their stuff / don't joint their servers and also notify them about their mistakes.

I sure that in the options menu, you can choose your download speed, as well as choosing if you want just graphics, or both graphics and sounds, (going off by memory right now.)

Having dedicated files is a smart thing to do. All my files are like that.

It depends on how much crap you download. My CS2D on my old computer reached 3.1 GB, but at least 1 GB was all of my files that I was going to use in my maps, and I'm sure that another GB was just cloned files from downloading maps that had copied files to put into folders for their map(s) (like DC previously said.) After moving to my new computer and deleting/moving files, it went down to 926 MB.

my cs2d folder size - 2.16 GB (2,320,325,254 bytes)
although the size is so large because of various additional resources for maps and several versions(game-build) of all game resources for different mod of cs2d - look like l4d, cs1.6, cs:s, ...

And i dont play on RP servers

All of my resources for example maps and sprites which are made in the styles of CS 1.6, CS: S, L4D - all located together, but separately in folders and all this will be available only with the next game build by Fan-Group.

I let out some details:
New user-friendly launcher with the ability to switch mods and interface (yours, CS 1.6, CS: S, L4D).
Also in the composition will include several high quality mods and scripts.
Reworked all the championship maps from CS 1.6, with using Lua.
Wait, it will be released soon.

I think your folder must hold massive mods, graphics, sounds, tilesets, maps in order to reach that kind of size within the CS2D folder itself. I've experienced something similar before, so I know how it feels when the folder containing all of the files reaches those sizes. It's completely normal, but perhaps not that good for the PC's hard drive in a while, it all depends on your hard drive's capacity though.

Nevertheless, regardless of the above, I think we need to create rules about the location and use of game resources for creating maps and servers, or even put them in a configuration map editor for the automatic correction.

Nope, works fine.
But, because you insist to have rules here.

1) Don't upload crap maps
2) Please, no more de_dust remakes.
3) Don't put extra shit in different folders

Then everyone will be happy.

Yes, in principle, to start at least and such ... but these must be implemented in the editor and say more understandable (for the stupid - because such people the majority of newcomers-maperov) and supplemented by other regulations.
