old CS2D Restarts my Computer?

I got really mad about what was happening so i started this thread...

Yeah uh every time i open up cs2d and go to the server menu the game restarts my computer and my computer has been restarted by the game 3 times today and i still don't know why i keeps doing this???

whats weird is the fact that it only happens when i open the game and go to the server menu and doing anything else that has nothing to do with cs2d doesn't restart my computer so is my copy cs2d corrupted? do i have a virus? is it my computer? i don't know.

and i don't use any other lua scripts then what was in the game when i downloaded it.

So... Anyone got a suggestion??? i would sure appreciate one right now.

CS-2D only quit, if there are (For example Explosion, long-long-long Script) massive things (see examples).

But you computer restart?
Is it a really old computer?
maybe if its a old computer, cs2d take so much CPU-Power that the pc restart...

old well...

Your RAM is insufficient. Most probably since if the PC lacks RAM it'll force computer to reboot as far as I know.

If this is not the issue then my bad.

yeah, and i never saw a pc with 480 mb ram

i know 128,256,512,1024,......but 480mb....

that can be a problem.
you can open the task manager and look how much RAM cs2d use. when it is about 70% and above, you open the serverlist and the pc restarts, you know what your problem is.

old yes i know..

yes i know this computer is crap (but again its not mine, mine is faster but that's not the point) but I'm serious its 480mb although the ram on this computer has stayed the same for a while now, the last time we changed it was way before this started to happen and now all of the sudden this restart bug starts to happen so i don't know... it probably is the ram but why did it just now start to happen if the ram has always been like this??? but I already knew that a game like cs2d does not have the admin power to restart the computer but why just now start though its wierd.

i only use the program "prime95". its aviable in englisch, too.
my old computer always restarts after a few seconds. i used prime95 and it shows me that i had much errors. and so i bought a new one and then it was fine.

there are other programs like prime95 that test your cpu/ram for overheating and errors. google is a good friend

WELL THANX i used prime 95 and after like 3 minutes the entire computer + the keyboard and mouse froze then when i closed it i found out that it was pulling 230,000k of ram and cs2d pull no where near that much but it is probably the ram like kimkat said but then that leaves one question:

if it was the ram then why did it just now start to act up when the ram has been the same ever since i downloaded and started to play cs2d in 2010???

i guess will never know...

*EDIT*

hmm i wonder if steam could be the problem...

see i recently downloaded the steam client (im a big half life fan) and it start every time i log on to my computer account and it pulls quite a bit of ram so if steam+other start up programs = alot of ram usage then steam+other start up programs + cs2d = comp. overload restart?
thats probably it.

maybe there are now additional processes and programs running in the background and using additional ram.

old thats it!

yea DC your right there are quite a few other programs running too:

steam + inc. mail + verizon and hp crap + system processes + cs2d = my current problem?

yea that's it because i recently downloaded the steam client
and it uses alot of memory and it starts every time i log in so
then it must be a "ball and chain" on my computer

thats gotta be it

Maybe you've placed RAM into the PC from the wrong manufacturer, it could cause some problems. You'd need to check if the manufacturer of the previous RAM is identical or not and then try to see if there's a new model with the same manufacturer and buy that model and replace the RAM sticks. I think the problem is that you've placed a new manufacturer's RAM into the PC and that causes the malfunctioning and that's what is causing these RAM problems. I heard this somewhere from tech forums yet some RAM's might work fine but I still think it's one of those RAM issus.

Also disable/remove start-up programs by (Start > Run... > "msconfig" without quotes, see tabs about Startup and from there remove the programmes that takes up system memory.)

You must realise though that slower/older PC's can't run most games and applications of today, so be aware of that.

old THE DUST!!!

hey guys its been a few days since my last post but i figured out the problem and fixed it, guess what it was... no it wasn't my ram. IT WAS THE DUST! and by that i mean a sh*t load of dust got into the fan that cools down the cpu of my computer and well after taking the side panel off my computer and cleaning all the dust out i can finally play cs2d again so yay!!!

although thanx dc, pyrocracker ,and kimkat7 you guys notified me of some other problems that i might also have so thanx alot (i mean it)

so thanx a f*cking lot

Some computers and laptops has not normal RAM (most old computers), because they have on-board drives (the ram memory goes to the video memory).
