Hey guys. I just found an interesting program called >>VirtualBox. It apparently lets you run other operating systems in your own (for example: Linux in Windows and vice-versa).

I'm downloading it to see how it works. Have any of you tried it or at least heard about it? What do you think?

There is also >>phpVirtualBox.

I used it for a while to compile Linux versions of my games. pretty useful for everyone who needs additional OSs for some reason and doesn't want to have the risk to somehow damage/influence the main OS installation.

also useful for trying a new OSs

I personally use it quite a lot. It's much smaller than VMware and doesn't cost anything, so IMHO it rocks.

I tried running a Windows ME, it worked but I was disappointed cause I thought ME would look alot better (from what I remember it) I must've gotten a wrong version, lol. VirtualBox is useful only to people that really need it for testing certain things I wouldn't really use it for anything else as I already got a OS, none the less it's a great idea this VirtualBox thing aswell as the VMware.

Vectar666, you can use a programme called DOSBox to run Win95 games and you're able to play older games aswell. I tried playing Lemmings it was neat.

I said that it didn't work in DOS, that meant that It didn't work in DOSbox (I don't have DOS running on my computer )

Windows 95 IS MS-DOS, well, actually Windows 95 is a GUI running on top of MS-DOS. There is a little piece of useful information.

Windows always was just a graphical shell for DOS. Even though, they say that XP, Vista and 7 are independent OSs, imho, they are lying.

They are pretty graphical overlays for NT, not NT itself. For instance, GNOME and the Linux kernel are not the same thing.

Yes, I know. Kernel is the heart, and GNOME or KDE or Xfce is the skin.
