my sister recently downloaded an8tob3d. what that is is a program to turn .an8 files into .b3d files, thus making the animations usable in stranded 2. well, she tried launching it, and it does next to nothing. what happens is for maybe a second tops a little window appears that doesn't say much, but shows a partially full progress bar. nothing else happens.
does anybody know what to do with this problem? she also suspects that an8tob3d may have a virus, but then again, she does that with everything she downloads. in spite of that, i am reluctant to download it on to my computer.
any help?

we're freeware people, so please don't suggest milkshape or whatever.

Maybe posting this on a forum that is dedicated to an8tob3d or a forum where it is often talked about often would be a better place to start, majority of UnrealSoftware ppl have MilkShape ( sorry about mentioning the 3d-modelling-software-that-must-not-be-named ).

lol i think he's fine w/ you mentioning it, he's just saying that he won't be using that for an alternative an8tob3d.

as for the problem itself i have no idea

I do believe if memory serves me, that for an8tob3d to work correctly, all the bones must be placed at right angles of each other.

Every time you place a bone, you must make sure it can only turn 90 degrees, and that it only turns those 90 degrees. There are also several other bugs in the program. I do believe there was a manual with the download. Did you bother to look?

I never took the trouble to try making a model where all the bones were at right angles with each other so I can't tell you if it works or not.

after a bit of tinkering, i realized the solution is quite simple: right click on the application, and click "run as administrator"

it works for me, anyways..

thanks fred it worked

so i have a simple animation in the .b3d format... now what?
when i create a unit, for ani_move (for exmpl) it shows a bunch of numbers.

i just need a quick explanation of what the numbers are and i might be able to figure the rest out

The first number is the beginning frame of the animation, the second number is the ending frame of the animation, the third number is the speed of the animation...

Ani_mov is the command for the moving animation, ani_attack is the command for the attacking animation, ani_idle is the command for an idle animation, or an animation where the character takes a break and does something ekes other then walk...

Pretty self explanatory.
