I have this really good sfx file, but it is too large. I am trying to use it in a map. How can I change the size of it, so that people can get it transfered to them (Under 250 kb), so that they won't have to change up their downloads to ALL > 3mb?

you can split it in parts. Pretty sure that BetaM did it with one song in multigame, where you have to run from DC

So it's probably music, right? Here's a pro advice: Don't use music.

Music is really annoying, indeed.

@user D-D3ADxPro: You can always cut your music file and use 3 ones separately.

some things that you can try:
> Decrease Bitrate
> Decrease sample rate
> Descease quality

Solution above can decrease the file size

Yeah, use a bitrate around 96k - 128k, cut the music at cut-mp3.com in order to delete the blank parts and ... How much minutes has your song ?

You could store resources like (graphics, sounds, sprites) on a fast server instead. That could help speed up the download process.

I'll explain how to do that. You open up servertransfer.lst within the sys directory of CS2D and look at the commented part then hopefully you'll know what to do.

I would recommend trying to use short or compressed audio clips in your map as it's using less bandwidth and works okay rather than when not doing just this. I recommend compressed audio as long as it doesn't have extremely low quality. Anyhow good luck with the sounds.
