How to design map and layout?

What makes a good map?
1. Layout
2. Theme
3. Quality
4. Originality
5. Gameplay

What is needed to make a good layout?
1. Good pacing and flow
2. Balance
3. Route easily remembered
4. Contain strategy and choices in pathways
5. Various playing style (Assault, Sniper, Grenade)
6. Competitive gameplay
7. Enjoyable and awesome

Let's start with layout!
1. For starters, draw a box and divide into four.
2. Draw 'a' at the first divided box and 'b' at the side of the divided box.
3. Draw 'ct' at the center of'a' and 'b'
4. Draw 't' at the lower of the divided box but still at the center, just like 'ct'
5. If it was a hostage rescue, draw 'hostage' at the side of 't'
6. Draw pathways for each team and their attack points.
7. Place these attack points: (Middle, Side)
8. Enable camping zone for hostages and bomb sites.
9. There must have obstacle for camping and attack zones.
10. Do not place obstacle like pattens, follow your map theme.

What is theme?
1. Theme is what your map should be.
2. Office, temple, jungle, city, infected zone or whatever.
3. Use stuff, sprites, sounds and props that suitable for your theme.

What about quality?
1. Use png for sprites and tiles.
2. Textures is better to be seamless.

What is originality?
1. Create the map yourself.
2. Do not consists anything from other users maps.

What is needed in gameplay?
1. Contain place for assault, camping, grenade, and stealth.
2. Good pathways.
3. Nice textures and layouts makes players fell enjoyable when playing the map.
