255|0|255 is transparent color for bmps
the important advantage of png is that it offers transparency levels for soft transparency gradients etc. bmp only offers the transparency levels visible and invisible (realized with magenta as mask color which becomes invisible).
so if you need transparency stuff (more than just fully visible/invisible): use png. otherwise you can choose from both. you'll get the same result. there is no difference in quality.
(of course png has also compression but this isn't important because CC compresses the files for transfer anyway and you compress them with a zip archive if you publish them online)

Btw, wash your eyes and look carefully, DC said about compressed files in CC here, and here i asked. i think thats better than make new thread
