I know its not realy a good idea to rant on us but have you ever realised that every time that a News Channel talks about video games, they bad mouth em' the entire time? I just saw a NBC cut talking about a new rateing system, based on how active you are (Oh god, no! More motion crap!), What the hell?! Secerly? For real? This just makes me think of all the crap Wii games Titled somthing like "*Intsert somehing cute hear*z", or "House Work" (Wow, yah. Its a chore game. wtf...) I think Motion Control might take us back to the 1980's, AKA the time the game world almost died, but diden't thanks to Nintendo. What do you think. (Yes, this is baceictly a thread raning about News Channels/Motion Control and Video Games)

To be honest it's really dependant on what the videogame is.

I live in Britain and there tends to be controversy around a lot of games such as Grand Theft Auto IV, Red Dead Redemption and the upcoming Medal of Honor with news channels and news websites saying about how awful our modern media is.

Really, it's just the case that we associate TV and media with violence and so on, which is sad because for most people, A videogame or any other media may not have any sort of effect against most people, I wouldn't go out right now and shoot 20 innocent civilians and then rob a taxi (Some might, only to be placed with an awful result by the time they've stopped)

I guess some people don't really have a second thought about what they're saying.

They will, but only because of some of the stupid people who HAVE gone out and done it, the only time they blame these people is when they find copies of these violent video games in their houses, schools or whatever other places they may store them.

I think the news just likes to say that our media influences too many people to do something, which to be honest, isn't all that true.

Well, that "media control" isn't gonna be true.. as long as your mind is strong enough. Otherwise... idk

I'm sure most people are quite fine when they've used violent video games, it's just the few that aren't that become mad or psychotic.

Hell, I'm not even legally old enough to buy (or own) violent video games and I haven't had a thought about going to commit a killing spree.

People like you Doberman is what I call a smart gamer, some one who know what to do in a game, and what not to do in real life.

You only get one chance in life, you mess it up and you've totally screwed (and lost) it.

The ESRB website hat geschrieben
Parents agreed that a rating system should inform and suggest, not prohibit, and that the rating system should not attempt to quantify objectionable incidents, but rather should reflect the overall content of the game.

BIG FAIL!!!

If you make the age ratings younger, you'll get more of an audience (and money for a company)

The Dark Knight film managed to get a 12A (BBFC ratings) in Britain, which almost broke most of the regulations from the BBFC to give it an age rating of 15.

Still, it's reasonable enough, just because some media has shooting or violence doesn't mean it should be taken away or banned.
