So let's say you screw up and posted some unnecessary post or thread in the forum. Couldn't you delete your own post or thread?

Because sometimes I see some threads with a title of 'closed' or 'nothing'. I know only moderators can delete them but why not let people delete their OWN threads?

So when they delete their 'unwanted' threads, it won't exist in the 'recent threads' section anymore and will end up in the trash section. Also helps moderators since they don't have to delete those threads whenever they see a title named 'closed'.

Because idiots would post idiotic threads and delete them before a moderator can see it.Also it would be confusing, when someone replies on a post which has been deleted.

But wouldn't that be a GOOD thing? Less work for mods.

Just move the thread to trash.

I'll say the same thing i said before.

If people would be able to delete their posts they could curse/flame or post something that violate the rules, and then delete it, mods would have no proof to give rule violations.

And about the post delete, same thing...

Just have a small indicator that says, just like a normal post, *This post has been moved to trash* where 'trash' is a link to the post in the Deleted Posts, and the same thing for threads. Moderators could still enforce the rules by seeing posts by clicking on the link, in context. It might make it a bit harder for the deleted posts, but it's not like -every- post would be deleted.

this has been requested before. I'm not planning to add this feature.
some reasons were already given. another reason would be that this would allow to destroy the logical context of threads (by deleting posts from inbetween).

it's easier an better to let mods control this. mods may delete your stuff if you add a note like "mods: please delete" and if removal is justified. this is absolutely sufficient.

Why don't you just add delete topics func? Deleting comments is stupid idea but topics isn't.

Still, stuff in-between won't make sense, example, quotes or replies to that deleted message.

Or perhaps a simple 'File for Deletion' which appends to a list of Threads, and possibly Posts, that a moderator, or DC, can see, review, and either accept, deny, or ignore, or something among those lines.

I've added mod:please delete this a thousand times when my threads became a crowdy place full of trashtalk, but the mods never deleted anything.

More mods please?

That's what my proposition was for, if there were a list where mods could see what threads are requested to be deleted, it's more likely that they'd comply, or actively deny, [to] your request.
