To begin with, recently I decided to work on Isometric MMOG game.
So, I came up with an idea to make Voxel based isometric terrain for the game.
At first, I made isometric tile based terrain which supported some height values (1st part).
Secondly, I used Cubic Spline Interpolation for both, X and Z axis to create smooth edges for the terrain.
That way I created prime voxels. (2st part)
Later, I found a solution to draw voxels properly (3rd part), though the method is rather too slow for real time rendering.
4th part shows how I implemented texture displaying on the terrain.
Terrain collisions already have been implemented.

> Practical Use
To export the terrain as image tiles and use it in the game.

> Plans
• Shadow mapping, at the moment color changes only due to different height.
• Texture bumping, shadows will also be affected by texture layer.
• Export terrain tiles as proper images.

I hope you'll find this interesting!

I raised and lowered hills, bit short even for a demo; interesting sort of. Isometric MMOG sounds a bit odd to me, can't say I've ever heard of it before, could you explain your game a bit more please?

MMOG - It's a game like Runescape where the server has minimum like 100-500 players.
I'm still working on the idea of game.

ah, ok thanks for clearing that up for me, one more thing though, is it going to be free to play, or will it cost $10 like a lot of Indy games I see these days.

I'm pretty sure you'll be able to play beta for free.
Firstly, I should make the game, then talk about this $ stuff.

Hell yes, Voxels Looks nice, please give us more screenshots in the future

Yup, that's what I'm doing right now ;}

I just have done some work with Voxels Lighting & Map Bumping.
The Result:

2nd Update! ;}
Finally, I decided what kind of game will use this voxel engine.
Also, I found some ways how to optimize memory and drawing. So I made real-time destructible terrain.
Check it out ;}

Perhaps, I'm not sure ;}
I picked up whatever fitted a bit more for the demo.

One More Update:
This requires about 40Mb Virtual Memory.

I bet this will be the best game off all time

I already see the title: BattleField 2.5D. Mega realistic battle in a new isometric perspective LOL

but really @topic
how fast it renders destruction of terrain?
I am asking because I cannot download it because this site cannot be open. idk why
