A friend got this for me a few weeks ago, it's a pretty cool game.
Gameplay-wise, it has nothing to do with the original Dead Island or Dead Island Riptide (so if you expect a first person shooter I'm afraid I've got some bad news) but it gets pretty addicting quite quickly. The only downside of it is that it's pay2win and you're going to get destroyed in Scavenger mode (the PvP gamemode, the others are coop) if you don't hand out some money.

it isnt really pay2win,because 1 month ago,there was a huge update,and the ones who already bought the game,they got all champs + many weps..so maybe ur fighting against veterans?
