I have a problem, that actually Yates already cleared before, but still there is no way how we could fix it.

How will you protect servers from each other Lua based? Linux permissions can't stop Lua from going outside its own directory and into another.

Say I find out what dir a client uses, I could basically ruin their whole server without you knowing.

Just asking, I never was able to resolve that.


So do you have may any clue?

Some linux pro?

Never tried it. So you'll have to play around.

Why don't you change permissions dynamically ? I mean, give the executables the execute permissions when starting the server on (lets say, web admin panel) and then remove them. Maybe that way it could work, unless lua has su power (if I remember).

BTW, I think that this title isn't the best if you're seeking for help.

Run each game server as a different user and limit their access accordingly. In case you need even more isolation look for linux containers.
