Well, even though not spending much time on it, but I'm working on CS2D Replays feature. That means that you could record a game and then replay that recorded game afterwards. It's pretty much the same thing like recording the video stream, however that would be just data of events that passed in the game. Pretty much a better way to record a game without wasting a lot of resources (memory/performance).

The basic sample of replay even though playback failed:

Planned Features:
• Client & Server has different recording data
• Client recording cannot spectate
• Server recording can spectate all players
• Client recording can look at his mouse input recording
• Server can follow every player
• Fast forward the playback
• Replays are saved in the files

Not to mention it is pain to implement this with the current code base.
This feature could appear if not in 1.0.0.3, perhaps in 1.0.0.4

Ah so like theater mode in Halo or POTG in Overwatch.

I could see this being extremely useful for server administrators.

For example players who !report other players for foul play can be checked up on, (the report would mark down the timestamp and a mod could analyse it at anytime).

And I'm guessing the reason client recordings can't spectate other players is because if the enemy is off screen, the server isn't providing their location? (Makes ESP impossible)

Yes and also many other reasons. As if there is game and some player is hiding, you could just watch playback almost in real time and see what is he doing.

@user xXL33tXx: Hell no man.Killcam is annoying.But fine if they're optional.

On-Topic:Kinda buggy on the video.But it also must record chat or any text on gameplay and even shows HUD instead only green bar.(That's how Valve's games demo or recording feature works.)

@user sonkii: It does record chat messages and every activity in the game. It might even support all lua functions playback as well.

Buggy - of course, a single wrong command execution leads to de-syncing of data. As I told you it's quite hard to make it on current code base. Might take quite some time to make it stable.

Honestly, CS2D's starting to look like CS1.6 or CS:GO with the recording function, except in Valve's case, they are called "demos", although in CSGO, the game automatically records your Competitive game and you can download it on a section at the main menu screen.

Hell, we might end up having awesome frag videos in the future with this function.

If you can keep the data, would it be possible to see if some1 parse a certain guy speedmod, otherwise we will see that bitch move so fast w/o added him speed via console, cmd. So we can see if this guy is cheater or not?

i voted no bcs i don't really give a mind about that if it is exists or not.

Client recording won't be able to display more data than just your gameplay.

There is gonna be RCon commands to start and stop recording for dedicated servers? How much size will have aproximately 30 minutes of recording as server?

I'm just planning to implement API for that. How it will be used probably will depend on DC's choice.

At the moment goal is to have about 10-20mb for 1 hour recording. It really depends on the activity of the server/players count/scripts.

Finally we can have a replay function and is gonna be helpful for many ways. With this we could make fragmovies, catch cheaters, provide demos as a "anti cheat" (tournaments) and many things...

@user SQ: Earlier version(s) of CS2D (can't remember which one...) had this function in the past as I recall but it got later removed. I'm not pretty sure though cause I'm too tired to think, user DC might know it.
