would it say [img too big] if it would NOT be too big? of course it would not!
hence it IS too big. the size is limited to a width of 505 pixels. larger images would ruin the forum layout at the suggested minimum screen resolution of 1024x768.
Someone put in a much too large image and DC wanted to prevent that.
your banner is 512 pixels wide as said before the maximum broadness is 505 pixels.comparing 512 with 505 we come to the conclusion that 512 is a higher value than 505.
Lets have a calculation:
512-505=7
That means that your banner is 7 pixels too wide since the maximum is 505!
what you could do:
resizing your image to a wide of 505 pixels or smaller or cutting off at least 7 pixels from the left and/or the right sideI hope I was able to help a bit...

As dicker said: this is a recently added protection which helps to prevent the inclusion of images which are too large for the forum (because they destroy the layout of the forum tables on screen resolution 1024x768)
I have now my pictures, avatars, banners in perfect size.
I was very sick of preventing this large image shit and so I integrated an automatic protection against large images in this forum which works very well so far.
I would like it 50x50 since almost all my avatar's are 50x50.
Is there a way to make a resize without stretching the avatar?
My current one look very stretched, I would like if there was a alternative pixel stretch too.
Is that possible?
resize your avatar to 64x64 with linear or cubic resampling, that looks better than the strechting that php allows...
the maximum size is now 500 and not 505
