Hi everyone out there! I've decided to update my old tutorials so I make a basic guide to make some skins.

Depending on how outstanding the detail is supposed to be, you would usually use either a completely black border ( for like a magazine ) or a slightly dark version of the detail's main colouring ( for inset details such as a safety switch ).

The color palette is just for picking colors, it doesn't matter the size of the sprite, if you are making pixel art looks for some tutorials in google.

with 4-5 tints in a gradient for every one of those colors you could make a pretty detailed sprite. It's not about the ammount of colors, but the maximal ammount you need of them. You need to use as few as possible.

The worst thing about this tutorial is that the final weapon doesn't look a single bit like the "reference".
