By update the version of cs2d, did you mean he has to get cs2d max?create custom serverlists and update the version of cs2d, then redistribute your version with the modified host configs
By the way, I'm willing to host a serverlist for cs2d max if that's possible. Although I need help with lots of things. I might host a alternative serverlist with a little bit of help.
For either CS2D 0.1.0.4 or CS2D max is fine.
The reason why: I want to save people from boredome, since some players stopped playing CS2D after v0.1.0.4 went unsupported. And they want to play CS2D v0.1.0.4 online like the old times, therefor I am willing to support. If not, I might support CS2D max with a alternative serverlist. If DC allows it.
of course you can setup a serverlist for 0.1.0.4 if you want. however this will probably also influence cs2dmax in a bad way (less players). so please note that I'll tolerate but not support serverlists for the old cs2d (otherwise the old official serverlist would still be online)
I might need instructions on how to set-up a serverlist though.

i would play both. But mainly beta 0.1.0.4
I still got my cs2d beta 0.1.0.4 folder,
because it's quite a large folder and im hoping one day you'll come to your senses and make it available online.
Anyways, if we do restart the 0104 serverlists again, max will lose at most 10% since most of the people playing it currently are new to the game. We just want to preserve what we thought to be a beautiful game, no harm in that.
Also, updating the client means either patching out a global announcement for a change in the host.inf s or customly modify them yourself and then redistribute them. Whichever one you wan.

Seriously DC, can you at least think about making "cs2d beta 0.1.0.4" available again.
I seriously don't care about the hackers,
I'll just ban them the old fashion way or lock my server.
I've got at least 300 maps in my cs2d folder,
and it's a real shame to see it get thrown away,
sure i can play it in cs2d(max) but it's not the same.
If you can't decide to whether or not to bring the old cs2d back, at least make a poll and let the CS:2D community decide.
0.1.0.4 and older versions are officially 100% death and they will NEVER be supported again. this is a fact and you can't change my mind. don't even try it. even if 100% of the community would vote for 0.1.0.4. I wouldn't change it.
instead of playing the old cs2d we all should concentrate on making the new cs2d even better. any time I put in the old version is wasted time since the new version is so much better compared to the old one. the old version is a hopeless case. that's why I re-programmed cs2d max from scratch. and I didn't invest so much time and effort just to keep the old, trashy version online. nonsense!
You want to stick to a version where everything can be hacked, which looks stupid and which has less features? fine. it's your decision. But don't expect any support by Unreal Software.
